Street was a three-time All-American and the MVP of the 2002 College World Series, as he helped lead the Longhorns to three trips to Omaha while recording a record 41 career saves as the premier closer in Texas Baseball history. Street set a CWS record with four saves in the Longhorns' sweep of the tournament as a freshman. He then helped Texas to third-place and national runner-up finishes in Omaha in 2003 and 2004. He was a three-time All-Big 12 reliever and was a member of the USA Baseball National team in 2002 and 2003, earning summer All-America honors both years. Street left Texas with the second-best ERA in school history (1.31, second only to Burt Hooton's 1.14). Embarking on a highly successful career in professional baseball as the 40th pick in the 2004 draft, he earned American League Rookie of the Year honors as the closer for the Oakland Athletics just one season later in 2005 with 23 saves and a 1.72 ERA. He followed that by registering a career-high 37 saves in 2006. He broke the 30-saves mark again with 35 in his first season with the Colorado Rockies in 2009. Street was named to the National League All-Star game squad as a member of the San Diego Padres in 2012, posting a 1.85 ERA for the year. This season, Street was again named to the National League All-Star team with the Padres before being traded to the Los Angeles Angels. As of mid-September, he was among the league leaders in saves with 38 and owned a 1.31 ERA. In his 10-year Major League career, Street has recorded 272 saves.
