Nicole Devonish Gilmore, a native of Toronto, Canada, established herself as one of the top long and triple jumpers in the history of the Texas Longhorns track and field program. An eight-time All-American, eight-time Southwest Conference champion, and 1996 Olympian, she made an immediate impact even before arriving at Texas by earning a silver medal in the long jump at the World U-20 Championships in Seoul and competing on Canada’s 4x400-meter relay team. During her collegiate career from 1994 to 1997, she helped lead Texas to dominance in conference competition, as the Longhorns swept four outdoor league titles and won three indoor championships. Individually, she captured eight conference titles, including six in the long jump and two in the triple jump, highlighted by multiple sweeps of both events. Her mark of 21-10.25 in the long jump remains one of the top performances in program history, and she earned high-point performer honors at the 1996 SWC Indoor Championships. Gilmore also played a key role in Texas’ consistent national success, helping the team finish in the top six at all eight NCAA Championships during her career, including four runner-up finishes. She was a three-time NCAA runner-up in the long jump and represented Canada at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics after placing third at the national championships. Gilmore graduated from Texas with a degree in journalism in 1997 and went on to a successful professional career, including serving in Texas state government and now working as a contracts manager with KPMG LLP.
