MacIntosh leads rowers to victory at Head of the Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Senior rower Courtney MacIntosh led the way for the University of Texas rowing team as they captured the championship trophy at the 2005 edition the Head of the Oklahoma Regatta in Oklahoma City.
The individual win was the first in MacIntosh's Longhorn career. She finished with a time of 00:17:23.02 to claim the Women's Open Single. Fellow UT rower sophomore Emilie Tingey finished 10th with a time of 00:19:25.40.
The UT women's rowing team opened its fall campaign in strong fashion, capturing the inaugural all-points trophy at the regatta held at the Oklahoma River on Sunday, Oct. 2.
"We did well for our first time in the water," said head coach Carie Graves. "As a team is it important to stay focused out of our regular season. We still need to find some more depth on our team to get better overall. This was a good step in the right direction."
Texas rowing finished first in three races en route to the overall win, including a victory in Varsity Eight competition and second place in both the Varsity Four and Chesapeake Energy Women's Varsity Eight.
The Oklahoma City University rowing teams hosted the opening event that attracted over 10,000 in attendance to watch teams from all over the country come to the downtown Oklahoma City area and compete in 27 races on the Oklahoma River.
The Longhorns return to action on Sunday, Oct. 23, when they travel to Boston, Mass., for the annual Head of the Charles Regatta.
