Teri Pierce promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing

AUSTIN, Texas -- Theresa (Teri) Pierce, Director of Marketing for The University of Texas Athletics Department, has been promoted to Assistant Athletics Director, Marketing, effective September 1, 2005.
Pierce has worked in UT Athletics since the fall of 2000 when she was named Marketing Manager, serving in that role for two years until being named the director of marketing in February of 2002.
In her position, Pierce is responsible for the coordination of the marketing, branding and promotional strategies for UT's 20-sport program and works with multimedia rights vendor Host Communications (Longhorn Sports Network) which serves as UT's primary advertising and athletics corporate sponsorship sales force. She is directly responsible for managing UT's advertising accounts and media trade agreements with area television, radio and print outlets and is the marketing customer service representative for corporate contracts and needs.
Additionally, Pierce instituted the popular "O-Zone" student section in the Frank Erwin Center for men's and women's basketball and is UT's marketing liaison to the Big 12 Conference office.
Pierce is a 1985 graduate of The Ohio State University, Columbus, Ohio where she received her bachelor's of science degree in industrial design. She received her master's degree in advertising with a minor in sports marketing from The University of Texas in May of 2000.
Prior to coming to Texas to attend graduate school, she was the creative services director for the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (1990-96) and the assistant marketing director for the organization (1996-98).
Pierce is a member of National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators (NACWAA). She is a former board member of the Greater Austin Sports Association.
