ESPN's College GameDay to be on hand for Texas-Ohio State game
05.16.2006 | Football
When it comes to college football, television exposure has a significant impact on everything from recruiting, to national rankings, to national awards. Longhorn fans will once again have the unique opportunity to be a part of some of that exposure as ESPN's College GameDay broadcast is set to make its fourth appearance in Austin to cover the Texas-Ohio State game on Sept. 9.
The last time the show was broadcast from Austin, it attracted thousands of Longhorn faithful to Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium and its set location in Myers Stadium prior to the Texas-Texas Tech game last season. No. 2 Texas defeated No. 10 Texas Tech, 52-17, that day. On GameDay's two previous trips to Austin, No. 13 Texas defeated No. 16 Kansas State, 24-20, in 2003, and No. 18 Texas upset No. 3 Nebraska, also by the score of 24-20, and went on to claim the Big 12 South Division Championship in 1999.
GameDay was also on hand last season for the first-ever matchup between Texas and Ohio State, when the No. 2 Longhorns defeated the No. 4 Buckeyes, 25-22, in Columbus, Ohio.
This year will mark the 13th consecutive season College GameDay will originate from the site of the day's best game (generally announced the Monday before the game). Chris Fowler hosts the popular Saturday morning news and analysis show with analysts Lee Corso and Herbstreit and contributor Desmond Howard.
