Texas Ex Christian brings home gold at Pan American Games

RIO DE JANIERO -- Texas ex Brendan Christian won a gold medal in the 200-meter dash and a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash at the 2007 Pan American Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The five-time All-American competed for Antigua in both races at the Joao Havelenge Stadium.
Christian won the 200 in 20.37 seconds. He boasted a meet-best time of 20.33 in the semifinals after opening with a 20.61 in the first round.
Starting off the meet with the 100 race, Christian recorded season-bests with the fastest time in all three of his heats. In the first round, he clocked 10.34 seconds. He lowered that mark to 10.24 in the semifinal before crossing the finish line third in 10.26.
The two-year letterwinner (2003-04) holds the UT school record in the 100 and indoor 200, and the second fastest time in Longhorn history in the outdoor 200. The four-time Big 12 Conference Champion ran on the 4x100- and 4x400-meter UT school record relays.
