Longhorn Network adds six cable providers in Texas

Several operators in the state of Texas -- Consolidated Communications, En-Touch Systems, E-Tex Communications, Bay City Cablevision, Mid-Coast Cablevision and Texas Mid-Gulf Cablevision -- will make the Longhorn Network (LHN) available to University of Texas fans. The network, dedicated to all things University of Texas, features its first football game on Sept. 3 when the Rice Owls take on the Longhorns from Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium at 7 p.m. Central (with a re-air at midnight Central).
"This network is dedicated to serving the passionate fans of The University of Texas, and we appreciate the support of these operators in that effort," said David Preschlack, executive vice president, Disney and ESPN Media Networks.
The Longhorn Network will be available beginning Friday, Aug. 26 to Consolidated Communications, Bay City Cablevision, Mid-Coast Cablevision, and Texas Mid-Gulf Cablevision subscribers, and on Thursday, Sept. 1 to En-Touch Systems and E-Tex Communications subscribers.
An agreement with Verizon FiOS TV was announced on Aug. 25. A national distribution agreement with Verizon FiOS TV will allow UT fans to start watching the network on Thursday, Sept. 1. FiOS TV Ultimate HD subscribers outside of Texas can watch LHN on Channel 320. In Texas, FiOS TV Prime HD, Extreme HD and Ultimate HD subscribers can watch LHN on Channels 79 (standard definition) and 579 (high definition). With almost 4.4 million subscribers nationally, Verizon is the largest video service provider to date to announce the addition of Longhorn Network to its channel lineup. Verizon can be found in 12 states, plus the District of Columbia.
Longhorn Network will be available online, on tablets and on smartphones to fans with an affiliated video subscription in the near future.
'Game Plan With Mack Brown' and 'Texas GameDay' featured for season opener
On Sept. 1 at 7 p.m. Central, "Game Plan with Mack Brown" will look at what the Longhorns must do to beat Rice in UT's season opener.
At 2 p.m., five hours before kickoff against Rice, the two-hour "Texas GameDay" -- the only pregame show broadcast exclusively from inside the stadium -- will give fans all the insights, analysis and excitement they've come to know from ESPN's "College GameDay" pregame show, before kickoff at 7 p.m.
Immediately after the game, Longhorns fans will see the debut of "Texas GameDay Final" -- a two-hour dedicated postgame show televised exclusively from the field.
Additionally, on Monday, Sept. 5 at 7 p.m., and every Monday following a football game throughout the season, "Rewind with Mack Brown" will break down all the plays of the previous Saturday's game. Each Tuesday at 8 p.m. "Texas Football Overdrive" will present the game in an enhanced format featuring interviews, sound and analysis that bring viewers an inside look at the game.
