These changes are effective beginning with prospective student-athletes enrolling full time after Aug. 1, 2016.
• New intitial eligibility standards [Aug. 1, 2012] 
The NCAA recently adopted changes to the academic standards incoming freshmen must meet in order to be immediately eligible for competition. College-bound student-athletes first entering a Division I college or university on or after August 1, 2016 will need to meet new academic rules in order to receive athletics aid (scholarship), practice or compete during their first year.
