TULSA, Okla. -- Former Texas Women's Basketball standout Tiffany (Jackson) Jones will be on the court this weekend with the Tulsa Shock as the WNBA season tips off the 2013 season. Jackson-Jones and the Shock open the season in Atlanta on Saturday, May 25 at 6 p.m. Central before returning to Tulsa Monday, May 27, for the home opener.
This season marks Jackson-Jones' return to the hardwood, as she missed the entire 2012 season while she and her husband prepared for the birth of their son Marley Andre Jones last December.
Jackson-Jones enjoyed a breakthrough season in 2011 with Tulsa when she started 32 of 34 games and was the Shock's leader in points (12.4), rebounds (8.4) and minutes (33.9). Her 11 double-doubles throughout the season ranked third overall in the league.
Additionally in 2011, Jackson-Jones ranked fourth in the league in rebounds per game, second in total minutes played (1,152), second in total offensive rebounds (100) and fourth in total rebounds (286). She finished second in the league's most improved player award voting.
Jackson-Jones finished the 2010 WNBA season as the 18th-leading rebounder with 9.6 rpg and ranked 19th in steals (2.23 spg). She started in 17 games and averaged 23.7 mpg. She was traded from the New York Liberty to Tulsa in June 2010.
During her three-year career with the Liberty, Jones appeared in 102 games. She earned her first professional start on July 30, 2009, against Washington and started eight more games during the season. Also in 2009, Jones led the Liberty in rebounds six times, scored in double figures on five occasions and collected five or more boards in 12 games.
She appeared in the first 25 games of the 2008 season before missing the final nine regular season contests due to injury. During her rookie season in 2007, Jones appeared in all 34 games, and was the leading reserve scorer (7.7 ppg) and rebounder (4.3 rpg) in a three-game playoff series versus the Shock.
While at Texas, the All-Big 12 First Team standout led the 2006-08 Longhorns in scoring (16.0 ppg), rebounding (9.0 rpg), blocks (41, 1.3 bpg) and steals (80, 2.5 spg), and was an Associated Press, Kodak and U.S. Basketball Writers Association All-America pick during her UT career.
