A total of 379 UT student-athletes earned a 3.0 or higher GPA during the Spring and/or Fall 2013 semesters.
AUSTIN, Texas – The University of Texas Athletics Department took a collective timeout Wednesday night from practice and competition on the field of play. For one evening on the floor of the Frank Erwin Center, the Longhorn family came together to honor its student-athletes for their accomplishments in the classroom and the community during the 2014 Academic Awards Presentation.
The annual all-sports celebration drew a crowd of nearly 1,000 people, including 379 UT student-athletes who earned a 3.0 or higher grade point average during the Spring and/or Fall 2013 semesters.
Here's a look at the academic highlights at UT from the last two semesters:
After the Fall 2013 semester, the cumulative GPA for ALL sports combined was a 3.02.
Over 100 student-athletes graduated in the past academic year during the last fall, spring and summer semesters.
279 students earned a place on the Fall 2013 Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
So far during this 2013-14 academic year, student-athletes have completed more than 3,200 hours of community service and have several more community service opportunities left this semester.
In Spring 2013, a record number of 150 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.5 or higher.
UT student-athletes earned 103 Academic All-Big 12 Conference honors in the 2012-13 academic year. So far during the 2013-14 academic year, 79 student-athletes have been recognized with this conference honor.
