Jackson-Jones and Self-Morgan to be inducted into Duncanville ISD Hall of Honor

The induction ceremony will take place on Monday at Duncanville High School.
AUSTIN, Texas – Longhorn Legends Tiffany Jackson-Jones and Cathy Self-Morgan will on Monday be inducted into the Duncanville ISD Athletic Hall of Honor, Class of 2017. The ceremony will be held at 7 p.m. CT Monday at the Duncanville High School Performance Hall. Admission is free and open to the public.
Inductees were nominated by community members and chosen through a selection committee. The 2017 Hall of Honor class includes Sam Lowe, Shelley Finger and Lori Sutherland Roditi, joining Jackson-Jones and Self-Morgan.
The Duncanville ISD Athletic Hall of Honor was established to celebrate excellence and salute the contributions of individuals whose advancement of athletics in Duncanville ISD and beyond has made a profound difference in the lives of our young people. Nominees can be coaches, teachers, administrators, athletes, fans, or booster club members who have contributed significantly to Duncanville ISD's athletics programs.
Jackson-Jones, a three-time Associated Press All-American, played in 123 career games with 103 starts for the Longhorns from 2003-07, averaging 15.6 points per game, 6.5 rebounds per game, 1.5 blocks per game and 2.5 steals per game. She was the fifth overall pick of the 2007 WNBA Draft and just completed her ninth WNBA season. Jackson-Jones was a member of the 2003 Duncanville High School Girls Basketball State Championship team after playing her first three prep seasons at Dallas Lincoln High School.
Self-Morgan, who is in her 18th year as the head girls basketball coach at Duncanville High School, is a member of the UT Women's Athletics Hall of Honor, Class of 2004. The Poteet, Texas, native starred on the Longhorns' first three varsity basketball teams and was a co-captain as both a junior and a senior. She was a member of UT's first nationally-ranked team (36-10 record in 1976-77). She averaged a team-leading 17.6 points per game and 4.1 assists per game in her junior season. Self-Morgan has established herself as one of the top high school coaches in the nation, leading Austin Westlake to two state titles in the 1990s and Duncanville to state championships in 2003, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2017. From 2012-14, the Pantherettes won 105 consecutive games. Self-Morgan has logged more than 1,000 career victories as a high school head coach.
