ST. CATHARINES, Canada — University of Texas freshman Kamaka Hepa posted 2 points and 5 rebounds (2 offensive) in just 8 minutes of action to help Team USA (1-0) to a 105-73 victory against Dominican Republic (0-1) in the opening game of the 2018 FIBA Americas U18 Championship on Sunday at Meridian Centre.
The Americans return to the court against Panama at 7:15 p.m. Central on Monday, June 11. Team USA will then conclude preliminary round Group A play against Puerto Rico on Tuesday, June 12 at 5 p.m. Central. Group B features Argentina, host Canada, Chile and Ecuador.
Following the June 10-12 round-robin preliminary games, teams will be seeded within each group and all eight teams advance to the quarterfinal games on Thursday, June 14. The semifinals will be played Friday, June 15, and the finals on Saturday, June 16. The top four finishing teams will qualify for the 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup.
