Softball adds Ole Miss transfer Molly Jacobsen to the program

AUSTIN, Texas – Texas head softball coach Mike White officially announced on Monday the signing of Ole Miss pitcher Molly Jacobsen (Graduate Transfer/LHP/Adel, Iowa/Ole Miss/Adel-DeSoto-Minburn H.S.) to join the Longhorns program heading into the 2020-21 academic year.

During her two-year stay at Ole Miss, Jacobsen posted 19 pitching wins with a 2.53 ERA over 49 appearances with 36 starts, 14 complete games, six solo shutouts, five saves and 230 strikeouts over 238 innings of work. As a junior in 2019, the lefthander earned National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) Second Team All-South Region and All-Southeastern Conference Second Team honors after posting a 14-8 record with a 2.15 ERA, 11 complete games, five shutouts and 166 strikeouts (finished sixth in the SEC in the category). Along the way, Jacobsen managed two of the three longest shutout streaks in Ole Miss history (26 & 23-inning streaks) and registered high-profile wins over No. 21 Minnesota, No. 18 Oklahoma State, No. 16 South Carolina, No. 6 Florida and No. 7 Louisiana. During her shortened senior campaign in 2020, she started 11 games, earning five wins with a 3.42 ERA and 64 strikeouts over 71.2 frames.
Prior to her time in Oxford, Jacobsen was a two-time first-team NJCAA All-American, All-District and All-Conference choice at Des Moines Area Community College (2017-18), posting a 51-6 career pitching mark with 585 career strikeouts (12.27 K-per-seven-innings) while also hitting over .400 with eight HR's and 57 career RBIs. As a sophomore in 2018, she was named the NJCAA Division II National Pitcher of the Year and the ICCAC Female Athlete of the Year after tallying a 26-2 record with a 0.47 ERA over 163.2 innings while allowing just 11 total earned runs and striking out 312 (13.34 K-per-seven-innings). During her team's run to a third-place finish at the 2018 NJCAA College World Series, Jacobsen also hit .420 overall with nine doubles, three HR's, 20 runs scored and 34 RBIs. As a freshman in 2017, she was 25-4 overall in the circle with a 1.15 ERA, 273 K's over 170 innings and hit .398 with nine doubles, five HR's and 23 RBIs.
A native of Adel, Iowa, Jacobsen was a five-time letter winner at Adel-DeSoto-Minburn High School where she posted an 88-21 career record with a 1.32 ERA and 1,145 strikeouts while batting at a .357 clip with 42 doubles and 17 HR's. A three-time all-conference, all-district and all-state honoree on the diamond, she was also an all-conference basketball player and a member of the National Honor Society.
