From the youth leagues of San Antonio to the bright lights of Darrell K Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium, Trey Moore’s football journey has been defined by perseverance, faith, and an unwavering commitment to excellence. Now in his final season with the Longhorns, Moore is a finalist for the prestigious Campbell Trophy, awarded to college football's top scholar-athlete for excellence in academics, leadership, and on-field performance. A Physical Culture and Sports major with a 3.64 cumulative GPA, he leaves behind a legacy as both a standout linebacker and a scholar.

“I started playing football when I was five,” Moore said. “My dad played, so it’s kind of something I was born into. Playing high school football at Smithson Valley under Coach Hill really shaped who I am as a player and as a man.”
Despite a decorated high school career, Moore faced the challenge of being under-recruited during the COVID era. He found his first collegiate home at UTSA, where he quickly made his mark. But driven by a desire to compete on the biggest stage, Moore entered the transfer portal—a decision that led him to Texas.
“The recruiting process as a transfer was short, but everything here just fit,” Moore said. “Texas was the right place for me to take the next step.”

Moore’s impact on the field has been undeniable. In his two seasons with the Horns, Trey went a perfect 6–0 against rivals Oklahoma, Texas A&M, and Arkansas, and delivered in some of Texas’ biggest moments. A steady presence on one of the nation’s top defenses, he logged 36 total tackles in 2024 and followed it with 35 more through the conclusion of the 2025 regular season. When asked about his favorite memories in Burnt Orange, the first two that came to mind were anchoring a goal-line stand at Texas A&M and his four-tackle, two-sack performance against Arizona State in a thrilling Peach Bowl classic.

Off the field, Moore’s dedication to academics has earned him recognition as a finalist for the Campbell Trophy. “It’s a blessing,” Moore said. “It’s really a reflection of hard work, and also of the program and the academic staff here at Texas.”
Moore credits resources provided to him from Longhorn Foundation donors, from renowned training facilities to the Student-Athlete Academic Center, for helping him balance rigorous athletic and academic demands. “The TANC [Texas Athletics Nutrition Center], the academic staff, the strength coaches—everything here is top-notch,” he said. “All of that support has been huge for me, and I’m really grateful for it.”

As a senior, Moore also reflected on the relationships that have shaped his journey. “The memories we make as a linebacker group, like team dinners, trips, and just being brothers off the field, those are moments I’ll carry forever,” he said.
For Moore, the backing of Longhorn Foundation donors has been transformative. “Everyone on this team is appreciative of all the support we get,” he described. “Every donation truly makes a difference. We couldn’t do what we do without the support of the Longhorn Foundation.”
