ONLINE REGISTRATION
The Texas Men’s Golf Program is proud to offer elite and summer camps focused on improving all parts of you golf game.
2024 Summer Camp is available for male junior golfers aging 10-18 years old and we will offer two different sessions. Registration links will be found here and will go live on December 1st at 8:00 AM, CST.
Our 2023 Elite Camp is open for male junior golfers aging 13-16 years old. Camp dates are November 10 -12 at The University of Texas Golf Club. The field size is 24 players and we expect the spots to fill up fast.
PURPOSE
The John Fields Longhorn Jr. Golf Camp is designed to meet the needs of junior golfers of all abilities. Campers receive basic and advanced instruction that is required to excel at any level.
THE LONGHORN GOLF CAMP STAFF
Head Coach John Fields has put together a staff that promotes success at all levels -- high school coaches, collegiate coaches, collegiate players, a sports psychologist, a strength and conditioning expert. and a full-time athletic trainer. All coaches and counselors are experienced in working with young players and provide campers with outstanding instruction in a serious but fun learning environment.
WHO CAN ATTEND
Boys, ages 10-18 (special exemption for age 9, upon coaches' approval)
Per NCAA rules, all sport camps and clinics conducted by The University of Texas at Austin are open to any and all entrants and enrollment is only limited based on age, grade level, gender, or number restrictions as specified by each camp.
INSTRUCTION
Instruction focuses on improving the student's swing, short game, bunker play, chipping, putting, and course management, as well as the mental and physical aspects of the game. Campers are grouped by age and skill level with a camper-to-coach ratio of 5:1. All instruction takes place at The University of Texas Golf Club.
SCHEDULE/COMPETITION DAY
Final schedules are communicated prior to the start of each session. For planning purposes, camp schedules usually follow a similar schedule to the below.
- Day 1: 11:00am - 8:30pm CST
- Day 2: 9:00am - 8:30pm CST
- Day 3: 9:00am - 8:30pm CST
- Day 4: 8:00am - 1:00pm CST
On the Competition Day (Day 4), campers show their skills while participating in a team setting. Parents are welcome to come early and watch. Play begins at approximately 8:30 a.m. and camp concludes after the awards ceremony immediately following play.
CAMP COST
Resident Camper cost is $1,550 per session; Day Camper cost is $900 per session; the Major Champion Experience cost is $2,200 per session. Camp cost includes all instruction, green fees, V-1 lesson and analysis, special activities, room and board at a college dormitory facility. Day Camp is all-inclusive except for Transportation to and from the golf course.
Major Champion Experience – Building Reachable Dreams
In addition to the receiving the same instruction listed above, a Major Champion camper will receive the following exclusive camp experiences and merchandise:
- Trackman combine session with UT Coaching Staff (Trackman is a launch monitor used by the team as well as most touring professionals to hone in their numbers and better understand their game)
- Vision for the future with Coach Fields (provided materials and a glimpse into building a path to Championships)
- Special experience with Coach Fields
- Team issued gear
- A message from one of our Touring Professionals (as available)
MERCHANDISE
Camp specific merchandise is not available for purchase. General golf merchandise is available for purchase at the UT Golf Club pro-shop.
Major Champion Experience campers receive exclusive access to certain team issued items.
Awards are handed out after the conclusion of the Competition Day tournament. Some of these awards are team-issued merchandise/apparel.
SUPERVISION
Campers are supervised at all times. Instructors as well as counselors and an athletic trainer stay in the dormitory with campers.
EVENING ACTIVITIES
Special activities are planned which may include the Main Event and golf-related/team activities.
HOUSING & FOOD
Resident campers reside in The Callaway House - Austin - one of The University of Texas' best housing facilities which features a swimming pool, fitness center, and game room. The resident hall is located across the street from The University of Texas.
Campers will stay two or four to a room (based on room availability) and roommates can be requested when registering online. Otherwise, roommates will be assigned based on age. Please make sure that your camper and his preferred roommate have written each other down on their respective registration forms. We will do our best to accommodate everyone's request.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are provided for all resident campers. Day campers receive lunch and dinner. Campers eat both at the course and at the dorm depending on the meal. Campers typically bring some spending money for additional food ordering as desired.
DEPOSIT
A $250 non-refundable deposit per session* (which is applied to camp fee) must accompany each application. Upon receipt of the application and deposit, a confirmation packet and all necessary forms and information will be sent via email. (*Deposits are non-refundable and may not be put toward future camp dates.)
Full payment is due one week prior to the camp start date.
- Session 1 full payment is due June 6, 2022
- Session 2 full payment is due June 10, 2022
Refund Policy
- Per camp policy, the $250 deposit is non-refundable for any reason at any time, no exceptions! You must give a one week notice of cancellation from the start of your camp date to receive refund minus the deposit. (Cancellation prior to the full payment being due will receive a refund minus the $250 non-refundable deposit.)
- Camp merchandise/awards may not be returned for refunds or camp credit.
- There are no refunds for a "no show" or if a camper leaves early due to homesickness.
- There are no refunds once a session has started.
- Campers who cancel their camp session due to medical reasons have 2 weeks from the date of cancellation to submit a physician's note to the camp. No refund allowed after the 2-week grace period.
PAYMENT PLAN
A $250 non-refundable deposit is due at the time of registration. Full payment is not due until one week prior to the camp start date. Payments can be made as desired in installments on the registration website up until full payment is due. An official payment plan does NOT need to be put in place with camp staff.
REGISTRATION
Registration is from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on Day 1. All necessary forms are due at this time and registration is only complete upon completion of these forms.
PARKING
Parking is available for a small fee. There is a golf bag drop-off. The golf bags are loaded and transported to the golf course.
TRANSPORTATION
Transportation is provided to and from Austin Bergstrom International Airport if needed. Campers are met by a counselor at the baggage claim area upon arrival. If airport transportation is needed, please email TexasMensGolfCamp@athletics.utexas.edu at least one week prior to your camp start date to schedule transportation. It is requested that campers arrive as early as possible on Day 1 and depart around/after 3:00pm on Day 4 to allow time to get to Austin Bergstrom International Airport from the UT Golf Club.
Transportation is provided for overnight campers from the Callaway House to the University of Texas Golf Club facility each day. Campers are assigned a transportation group and ride in vans/SUVs to/from the facility. Overnight campers are discouraged from bringing personal vehicles, as all transportation is accounted for and provided. If overnight campers plan to drive themselves to camp, this must be communicated/approved by camp staff at least one week prior to the camp start date so it can be noted in their release/medical forms and arranged with The Callaway House. Keys will be taken at check-in and a fee might be applied.
Day Campers will need to provide their own transportation to/from activities.
FIRST AID
An athletic trainer is on duty to administer to all minor injuries and sickness, as well as monitor levels of hydration. For serious problems, a nearby health clinic is available.
MEDICAL FORMS
EVERY camper needs to complete the medical forms provided via email. Medical forms must be submitted prior to your arrival to camp. Participants must have completed a physical within the last 14 months. Forms are completed using DocuSign. A link will be sent to you.
WHAT TO BRING
Proper golf attire (no denim on the golf course), golf clubs, golf balls, golf hat, sun block, toiletries, sheets and pillows (or sleeping bag), towels, and some spending money ($20-$25). NO linen packets are available for rent.
