The University of Texas at Austin Athletics
Group Endowments
A group endowment is established by a donor that wishes to encourage other Texas Athletics supporters to contribute to their particular endowment’s corpus, in turn generating greater annual distributions that fund the student-athlete experience.
Sean & Brodie Copeland Memorial Endowment Fund
Texas Baseball was special to Sean and Brodie Copeland who tragically lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Nice, France on July 14, 2016. Surviving family members Kim, Austin and Maegan Copeland have collaborated with the Longhorn Foundation to introduce a baseball scholarship endowment created to preserve and honor the life, legacy and spirit of Sean and Brodie.
The Sean & Brodie Copeland Memorial Endowment for Texas Baseball, when fully realized, will provide an annual scholarship package for a baseball student-athlete who best embodies the qualities the family holds dear. “They both were givers. Empathetic, loving, caring and kind. That’s who they were. Truly genuinely compassionate people.” Kim says of Sean and Brodie. “They had such a passion for each other and for life. They were two peas in a pod.”
Please consider making a gift of any size to celebrate Sean and Brodie’s zeal for life.
Your contribution will support the education of a deserving University of Texas student-athlete. “Our community, really the world, wanted to be so involved but didn’t know what they could do,” Kim says. “This is a way for people, whether you’re strangers or not, to honor Sean and Brodie and help make sure their legacy lives on.”
The University of Texas Men’s Swimming & Diving Legacy Fund
In spring 2017, Texas Athletics established an endowment campaign to honor the legacy of Eddie Reese and Kris Kubik, collegiate swimming's winningest coaching duo. The goal of the initiative is to raise $13 million and fully endow the team's remaining scholarships to support our Men's Swimming and Diving student-athletes.
Thanks to the generosity of our donors, the first $100,000 endowment was named the April and Kris Kubik Men's Swimming and Diving Scholarship in July 2017. Additional monies raised will create endowments in increments of $100,000.
The next scholarship milestone will create the "Matt Scoggin & Mike Brown Legacy Scholarship," which honors the esteemed pedigree of Texas divers.
You can contribute to The University of Texas Eddie Reese & Kris Kubik Men's Swimming & Diving Legacy Campaign in two ways. Donors can either establish their own scholarship endowment ($100k+) by contacting us through our Contact Form or make a donation of any size to the group endowment fund by using the donate button at the top of this page. Group endowment gifts are pooled to create multiple separate endowed scholarships to support students participating in Men's Swimming and Diving.
Mary Ann & DeLoss Dodds Legacy Fund
From 1981 to 2013 Texas Athletics achieved unprecedented success, providing resources that touched every student-athlete and every coach in every sport. But there is just one common denominator—DeLoss Dodds, the charming man from Kansas whose vision and leadership changed the face of Texas Athletics. Today we call on you, to uphold the DeLoss Dodds legacy by supporting Texas student-athlete scholarships.
DeLoss wished that every Texas student-athlete earn their degree in pursuit of their professional aspirations. In order to honor DeLoss’ commitment to education, the Longhorn Foundation created the Mary Ann & DeLoss Dodds Legacy Campaign specifically to support our former student-athletes seeking to return to The University of Texas to complete their undergraduate or postgraduate degrees.
Please consider making a gift to provide tuition assistance to deserving former student-athletes.
Fred Steinmark Fund
Freddie Steinmark was a starting safety for the Longhorns’ national champion football team in 1969. He endures as a Texas symbol of courage and perseverance – and an inspiration to us all. Following UT’s victory against No. 2 Arkansas, a cancerous tumor was discovered in Freddie’s left thigh, resulting in amputation of his leg. He returned to the sidelines on crutches to support his team’s triumph over Notre Dame in Cotton Bowl. Freddie passed away in Houston two years later.
Your endowment donation can fully cover the academic-related costs of a world class University of Texas education for our student-athletes. If we come together to fully fund the Fred Steinmark endowment, we will be able to provide a full scholarship every year to a student-athlete to follow in Freddie’s footsteps with courage and determination.
Jody Conradt Opportunity Fund
Named in honor of Texas Women’s Basketball coaching legend, Jody Conradt, funds distributed from the Jody Conradt Opportunity Fund endowment shall be used to underwrite the department's efforts to develop female student-athletes academically, including the enhancement of their life skills to ensure their success in life after athletics. The services funded by this endowment are designed to benefit student-athletes who are actively participating in intercollegiate athletics or student-athletes who have exhausted their eligibility in intercollegiate athletics but are still seeking a degree.
