Both seat-related gifts and Longhorn Excellence gifts support the Longhorn Foundation's Annual Fund; however seat-related gifts are specifically associated with certain season ticket seating locations in sport venues. Longhorn Excellence gifts are non-seat-related philanthropic gifts. Season Ticket Transfer Policy
Season tickets may only be transferred to an immediate descendant (child or grandchild) of the current account holder. The recipient must agree to pay the current market seat gift. Transfers can occur during the account holder’s lifetime or posthumously. In the event of the account holder’s death, the recipient must contact the Longhorn Foundation by phone at 512-471-4439, by email at LF@utexas.edu, or by submitting the Texas Athletics Season Ticket Transfer Interest Form prior to the renewal deadline for that particular sport.
Please Note: Texas Athletics accounts that are marked deceased will not receive renewal communication. The request from the immediate descendant must be submitted prior to the appropriate season ticket renewal deadline in order to ensure that the current seat location(s) are available to be retained. For sport-specific renewal timelines, please review the image below of 2024-25 important dates for reference (dates subject to change).
Tickets related to status are ineligible to be transferred (staff, Letterwinners, etc.).
If the renewal deadline has passed for the tickets you are hoping to transfer, please contact the Longhorn Foundation to discuss next steps.
Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017
Under the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, this new law eliminates the charitable contribution deduction for payments made for the benefit of a higher education institution that grant the donor the right to purchase seating at an athletic event in the athletic stadium of such institution beginning January 1, 2018.
The University of Texas does not provide tax counsel and we urge you to seek the advice of your professional counsel when considering the tax deductibility of any contribution.
