Hook ‘em HospitalityBack to top
What Is It?
- We all have tasks that we’re assigned on game day, but our greater purpose is creating a first-class experience for all Texas fans and guests. Hook ‘em Hospitality is all about taking that little extra step to create a memorable experience for fans, keeping in mind our standards of Safety, Texas Hospitality, Teamwork and Efficiency.
UT leaders, managers and supervisors will be looking out for event staff that go above and beyond their assigned duties. If you receive a Hook ‘em hospitality card, tell us your story for a chance to be named Employee of the Game and receive prizes.
Here's some examples of ways to deliver Hook ‘em Hospitality:
- Instead of just telling a guest where the closest bathroom is, walk them there as if it’s on your way (only if you are allowed to leave your post!)
- Take a photo for a group so someone isn’t left out of the memory
- Step up and taking on additional tasks or moving to a unique location to help areas that are short-staffed or going on break
- Get fans water / ice that may be experiencing heat-related issues (don’t forget to get First Aid / EMS involved too!)
I Got a Card!
- Thank you for demonstrating exemplary customer service today! Please share your story with us through this link here (be specific, we want alllllll the details!)
Employees of the Game
- Congratulations to the newest Employees of the Game! These folks have exemplified Hook ‘em Hospitality! Thank you for your hard work and dedication to representing Texas!

Service RecoveryBack to top
What Is It?
- Service recovery is designed to repair the relationship with a fan when something has gone wrong for them during their experience. It may not be our fault the customer is upset, but it is our problem.
What Do I Do To Fix It?
- Follow the HEART method:
Hear the guest out and understand the full extent of the problem
Empathize with them and the emotions they are currently experiencing
Apologize for the service failure and the impact that it's had on their game day experience
Resolve the situation by fixing the issue or directing them to someone who can help
Thank them for coming to the game and supporting Texas Football
Can We Offer the Guest Anything?
- Depending on the severity of the issue, we have two options for recovering the situation with the guest.
- Minor Issue (Level 1) - A fan has encountered a minor issue that isn’t our fault, but our opportunity to improve. Managers and supervisors in every area have concession vouchers that can be offered to guests. Talk with your section leader and explain the situation and why you want to offer the vouchers to the guest.
- Here's how to present the concession voucher (or a few based on the party size) for their inconvenience. "I know this doesn't fix the fact that you missed pregame because of long lines, but please enjoy some chicken tenders or get an ice cream on us. We'll be sharing this issue with the operations team after the game."
- Major Issue (Level 2) - A fan has encountered a problem due to something that’s our fault. Escort them to the nearest guest services booth where staff can more appropriately record the issue to fix the problem and determine the follow-up steps. - For any situation that you have to recover with guests, please fill out this form and let us know so we can continue to improve and enhance the guest experience.
Do I Need To Do Anything If I Offer the Guest Something?
-
Yes, we want to know about any situations that impact our guests so we can improve the experience in the future.
Please fill out this form to tell us what happened and how you resolved it.
