Volunteer

Be a Hero! Volunteers are vital to the success of the Neighborhood Longhorns Program, and what better way to expose children to college than by giving them the opportunity to learn from and engage with students attending The University of Texas at Austin. As volunteers, UT students grow to understand the value of community service. Whether they are helping a child with homework or boosting a child’s self-confidence, UT role models learn firsthand how a little time and a few kind words can change a child’s life. Please consider volunteering and helping a child understand that they too have the potential to attend college someday.
Individual Students Neighborhood Longhorns Program needs UT student volunteers throughout the academic year to support our elementary and middle school partners in the Austin area. Volunteer opportunities include tutoring, on-campus events at the university, and school events such as festivals and beautification days.
Visit our GivePulse page to see a list of current opportunities and to sign up as a Neighborhood Longhorns volunteer. If you don’t see any time slots available, check back again soon.

- School Events: Volunteer at elementary or middle school events like science fair, field day, school carnival, or beautification day.
- College for a Day: Participate in a UT student panel discussion, lead a workshop or tour related to your major, serve as tour guides leading kids to activities on UT’s campus, or assist with event set-up.
