First Season at Texas
Ryan Reynolds begins his first season as Chief of Staff for Men’s Basketball at The University of Texas. Reynolds brings 18 years of full-time collegiate experience to the Texas staff, including 16 seasons working directly with Sean Miller at both Xavier University and the University of Arizona.
During the 16 years that Reynolds and Miller have worked together in full-time roles beginning with the 2007-08 season at Xavier, the duo has produced an overall record of 397-156 (.718) and advanced to 10 NCAA Tournaments with four trips to the Elite Eight and seven to the Sweet 16. The tandem also has combined to claim six conference regular-season titles and three league postseason tournament titles.
During the past three years (2022-25) at Xavier, the Musketeers posted an overall record of 65-40 (.619) and made a pair of NCAA Tournament appearances including a trip to the Sweet 16 in 2023. Xavier registered a 22-12 overall record (13-7 BIG EAST) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament First Round during the 2024-25 season. In 2022-23, the Musketeers went 27-10 overall, tied the school record for most BIG EAST wins in a season (15-5) and advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16.
Reynolds spent a total of 13 years (2009-22) in the athletics department at the University of Arizona, including 12 seasons working directly with Sean Miller. Reynolds worked for one season (2009-10) as an administrative assistant for men’s basketball, before he was promoted to the role of Director of Basketball Operations in May 2010. He was later elevated to Assistant Athletic Director for Men’s Basketball Operations in July 2019. Reynolds also served for one year (2021-22) as the Assistant Athletic Director for Administration and Operations.
The Wildcats advanced to the NCAA Tournament a total of eight times during Reynolds’ 13 seasons, including six Sweet 16 appearances and three trips to the Elite Eight. During his time in Tucson, Reynolds oversaw all facets of the men’s basketball program’s internal operations. In addition to running point on the team’s non-conference schedule, he oversaw major renovations to McKale Center, the weight room addition to Richard Jefferson Gymnasium, the men’s basketball locker room renovation and the McKale Center hallway project.
Reynolds worked for one season (2008-09) at Wake Forest University as the assistant coordinator of basketball operations for Dino Gaudio. The Demon Deacons opened the season with a 16-0 record and vaulted to a No. 1 national ranking before finishing with a 24-7 mark (11-5, second in ACC), a trip to the NCAA Tournament Round of 64 and a No. 12 ranking in the final Associated Press poll.
A native of Cincinnati, Reynolds earned his bachelor’s degree in sports management with a business minor from Xavier University in 2007. He worked as an undergraduate student manager for the Men’s Basketball program for four years (2003-07). Reynolds then served in the role of Graduate Program Assistant for one season (2007-08) and received his master’s degree in sport administration from Xavier in 2008. During those earlier five years at Xavier, the Musketeers advanced to four NCAA Tournaments with two runs to the Elite Eight and claimed two Atlantic-10 Conference regular-season titles (2007 and 2008) and a pair of A-10 Tournament crowns (2004 and 2006).
