Former Longhorn Apud-Martinez medals at 2007 Pan American Games

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Texas ex Talis Apud-Martinez earned a silver medal for her native country of Mexico, taking second in the 3,000-meter steeplechase at the 2007 Pan American Games at the Joao Havelange Stadium on Saturday, July 28.
Apud-Martinez cleared each hurdle and made it through each water pit in a lifetime best time of nine minutes, 43.66 seconds. She earned a silver medal for Mexico with her performance.
Apud-Martinez was a four-year letterwinner at UT from 1999-2002. She was a standout distance runner, who led the Longhorns cross country team in every race during her junior and senior seasons. The sociology graduate was also named to the Academic All-Big 12 teams while enrolled on the Forty Acres.
