Improved security, safety, and traffic flow, as well as the loss of existing parking due to campus and nearby Capitol complex development have made it necessary to create a comprehensive traffic, security, and parking plan for Texas Football game days.
UT Athletics, with the input, review and approval of multiple campus and community agencies, is implementing a new parking and traffic flow plan in preparation for the 2008 season and beyond, when game day attendance will increase to more than 90,000 and we will be dealing with more cars and people.
After an extensive review of the parking allocation for 2007, we are excited to announce the implementation of a new tool that will allow you to have input on the location of your parking pass. After you return your football season ticket application this spring, you will receive a Football Parking Request Form that will ask you to rank your parking lot and/or garage preferences.
As in the past, the overall allocation will be done in priority order according to your annual gift, using lifetime giving as a tie-breaker. However, this year your feedback on lot and/or garage choices will be collected using the request form and then used during allocation. If you're parking choice(s) are still available when your parking is allocated, your choice will be used.
In addition to the feedback concerning your desired parking areas, you will also be given the opportunity to request to park with friends and/or family. If you choose this option, please keep in mind you will be allocated in order according to the donor with the lowest annual gift total.
As you can understand, it will be very difficult to determine the donation amount needed for each parking area. With the implementation of the football parking request form as well as the increase in the seating capacity of the stadium, the donation amount for a specific area is likely to change from 2007. For these reasons it will not be possible to predict the donation level necessary in 2008 to receive a pass in a specific lot and/or garage.
Remember, to be eligible for football parking for the 2008 season; you must make your annual gift by March 3rd, 2008 and return your season ticket application by the priority deadline.
This season, patrons will receive a color-coded parking pass for a single parking lot or garage in which you are assured a parking space. (Spaces are assured, not assigned. Exceptions to this policy are state parking garages A, B, G & Q where spaces remain first-come, first-served.)
UT Athletics greatly appreciates your patience as we move toward making Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium the finest college football venue in the country.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT TEXAS FOOTBALL PARKING
Why was it necessary to develop a new parking and traffic plan?
Security, access, safety, and traffic flow issues before and after football games have been raised by local and university officials. When all of these factors were considered, it was necessary to adjust the assignment and overall management of parking in order to provide patrons with the safest, most secure, and convenient game day experience possible.
In addition, construction on the north end of DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium and strict security mandates resulted in the elimination of parking and access to San Jacinto Blvd. between 21st and 23rd streets. This has caused a significant loss of surface parking surrounding the football stadium.
How will parking be allocated for the 2008 season?
As in the past, the overall allocation will be done in priority order according to your annual gift, using lifetime giving as a tie-breaker. However, this year your feedback on lot and/or garage choices will be collected using a Parking Request Form and then used during allocation.
What does my parking permit color mean?
-
The color of your parking permit coincides with the colored lot/garage on the parking map. For example, if you have a light blue permit you only have access to the light blue parking lot/garage shown on the map. In order to manage traffic patterns around DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium on game days, parking permits for each lot or garage have been allocated according to the actual number of spaces in that lot/garage only.
Therefore, the only individuals who have access to those parking lots/garages are those who have the corresponding color permit. This will cut down on traffic delays and make it easier to travel to your designated lot/garage each game day. Additional security is also important in order to improve safety considerations at all Texas Football games.
My friends park in different lots. Is there a way I can switch my permit so we can tailgate together?
We are unable to make changes with any permits. We have exhausted our allotments in each parking lot/garage. Each space in every lot/garage has been accounted for and assigned.
I received a permit in a parking garage. May I switch to a surface lot so I can tailgate?
The best way to tailgate with friends is to determine a meeting point for each home game. You might want to check with your friends to see which parking lot/garage they have been allocated to find the best tailgating spot. There are several areas surrounding numerous parking garages that will provide excellent tailgating experiences.
If my designated lot/garage is full, can I park in another lot/garage?
Parking has been allocated according to the number of spaces in each parking lot/garage. Therefore, when you arrive at your designated parking lot/garage, you will be able to park at that time without having to drive and search for another parking lot/garage. This should make traffic flow much better and easier to navigate.
If there is available parking in a different lot/garage when I arrive, can I park in that lot/garage?
You will only have access to the parking lot/garage that corresponds with the color permit you have been allocated. In an attempt to more effectively manage traffic flow and improve security, each color permit will allow access into one specific parking lot/garage instead of several different and scattered lots/garages. The parking permit you have received assures you a parking space in the assigned lot/garage. (Exception: Parking in state parking garages A, B, G & Q is still first-come, first-served.) Please review new traffic patterns indicated on the and Longhorn Foundation lots/garages on the .
I have a purple-checkered permit. Am I assured a parking space in one of the assigned garages?
Although we have worked with several agencies to acquire as many additional parking lots/garages as possible, availability is still limited. As a result, spaces in the purple-checkered garages are only available on a first-come, first-served basis.
I have a purple-checkered parking permit. Can I park in any of the four state garages listed on the permit?
Yes, you have access to any of the four state garages listed on your permit. Again, these garages are first-come, first-served. These four additional state garages were acquired in order to make up for lost parking spaces that have occurred due to facility construction and strict security mandates.
Will I still be able to drive through San Jacinto Blvd. along the west side of the stadium?
Due to new security and safety measures, access around DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium along San Jacinto Blvd. is restricted. Law enforcement security and safety requirements have been implemented in order to make the stadium as safe and secure as possible. Due to construction on the north end of the stadium, the Longhorn Marching Band will march down San Jacinto, along the west side of the stadium, and enter through the south end of the stadium.
There will be several drop-off areas close to the stadium for your convenience. Please refer to the to find these drop-off points. San Jacinto Blvd. will be accessible from MLK Blvd. to 21st Street and from Dean Keeton to 24th Street with the designated permit. (Please refer to the if you have further questions.) All access to San Jacinto will be limited to vehicles with designated parking permits only.
I have an ADA permit. Where will I be able to park?
-
The ADA parking lots/garages are located along 20-1/2 Street, 21st Street, 24th Street, 22nd Street and Inner Campus Drive, and the 23rd Street Circle. Please refer to the for details and to view pre- and postgame traffic flow. You must display your ADA permit at all times in order to access the different parking areas. The individual requiring ADA access must be present and able to show proper identification. Please remember, ADA parking is first-come, first-served.
If you are unable to find an ADA parking space when you arrive, you may drop individuals at the following locations: 21st Street at San Jacinto Blvd., 23rd Street at San Jacinto Blvd., 23rd Street at Robert Dedman Drive, and where Trinity Street meets San Jacinto Blvd. Again, please refer to the Longhorn Foundation map for more detailed information.
Will this year's parking permit be utilized for the entire season, or are there single game parking permits?
You will receive a booklet containing six parking permits, one for each individual home game. Please present the correct permit for the corresponding home game or you will not be able to enter your assigned parking lot/garage. Parking permits need to be hung on your rearview mirror and must be displayed at all times.
If I lose my parking permit, can I get it replaced?
Parking permits are non-replaceable since each parking space in each lot/garage has been allocated.
Is tailgating permitted in all parking garages?
Yes. Please note in order to keep everyone safe you may not use grills of any kind. You may utilize any grass areas around the perimeter of your assigned parking garage.
Will I have to sign for my permit when it comes in the mail?
Yes, your parking permit will be mailed separately from your 2008 Football season tickets and it must be signed for upon arrival. A signature will be required for parking permits, just as a signature was required for football tickets.
What time can I enter my designated parking lot/garage on game day?
Longhorn Foundation parking lots/garages open at 7 a.m. on game day. Any vehicle left on University property prior to 7 a.m. on game day will be considered abandoned property and will be towed. No tailgating equipment (i.e. tents, chairs, grills, etc.) can be set up prior to 7 a.m. on game day. This includes the grass areas adjacent to parking spaces. All items set up before 7 a.m. will be confiscated by the UT Police Department.
What changes can I expect for the 2008 season with regard to parking?
DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium will house more than 90,000 fans for the 2008 season. With this increase in stadium capacity and season tickets sold through The Longhorn Foundation, parking will be adjusted accordingly. We will again ask for your patience and understanding as game day parking will continue to be modified as we improve all of our athletic facilities and comply with local law enforcement to provide a safe and secure environment.

2008 Baseball Parking Policies
With the addition of several new seating areas, there has been an increase in season ticket holders and donors to The Longhorn Foundation. In order to accommodate our baseball donors, a new parking plan at UFCU Disch-Falk Field will be implemented.
Beginning this spring, a parking pass for Lots 103 and 104 will require an annual contribution of $1,000. Fortunately, we were able to acquire several additional lots to accommodate the needs of our donors. Any baseball season ticket holder who makes an annual contribution less than $1,000 will have access to Lots 110, 113, and 114. As in the past, ADA parking will be available in Lots 103 and 104.
