MAUI, Hawaii -- The pairings for the 25th annual EA Sports Maui Invitational are officially set, KemperSports Marketing announced Tuesday. The eight-team field will feature six teams that advanced to last year's NCAA Tournament (Indiana, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Oregon, Saint Joseph's and Texas) along with Alabama and host Chaminade University.
Texas will square off against Saint Joseph's in an opening-round game on Monday, Nov. 24 at 10 a.m. Hawaii time (2 p.m. Central), and the contest will be televised by ESPN2. The Longhorns will then meet either Indiana or Notre Dame in their second-round matchup on Tuesday, Nov. 25. The final round of the tourney is slated for Wednesday, Nov. 26.
All games are scheduled to be played in Maui's ocean-front Lahaina Civic Center (2,400-seat capacity). The ESPN networks will once again combine to offer live national television coverage of all 12 tournament games. In addition, ESPN360.com will provide live simulcasts of the games televised on ESPN and ESPN2.
This marks UT's third appearance in the Maui Invitational. The Longhorns posted a 2-1 mark in the 1993 tourney and a 2-1 record in 2004.
Remaining game tickets, including school-specific tickets, will go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, Aug. 13 at 9 a.m. Hawaii time (1 p.m. Central) via the official tournament Web site at mauiinvitational.com. Travel packages with game tickets and hotel accommodations are still available through Oahu Travel, the tournament's official travel agency (800.826.3822).
