Ellis moves on to qualifying singles draw at ITA All-American Championships

LOS ANGELES -- Texas freshman Aeriel Ellis registered her third singles win in two days to earn a berth in the qualifying singles draw Sunday on day two of the ITA All-American Championships at the Los Angeles Tennis Club.
Ellis (Hayward, Calif.) dealt UCLA's Stephanie Hoffpauir a 6-3, 6-2 defeat in the pre-qualifying singles round of 16 to advance to the qualifying singles draw, where she will join her teammate, senior Vanja Corovic. Junior Caroline Larsson fell just shy of the qualifying singles draw after suffering a 4-6, 6-2, 6-1 defeat to Baylor's Nina Secerbegovic.
The tournament will take a break from action on Monday before resuming play on Tuesday with the qualifying singles and doubles draws. Senior Stephanie Davison will join Corovic in the qualifying doubles draw.
