No. 1 Men's Swimming and Diving defeats No. 10 Georgia, 163-126

AUSTIN, Texas -- No. 1 Texas (3-0) captured 13 of 16 events on its way to a 163-126 victory over No. 10 Georgia Saturday afternoon on Senior Day at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
Texas opened the morning with a win in the 200 medley relay. Freshman Cole Cragin led off in 22.40 on the backstroke before giving way to junior Scott Spann, who split 25.15 on the breaststroke. Senior Ricky Berens split 21.29 on the butterfly leg before freshman Jimmy Feigen anchored for the win in 19.41, as the relay finished in a NCAA "B" cut of 1 minute, 28.25 seconds.
Sophomore Jackson Wilcox claimed the next event for Texas, as he clocked 9:08.98 to win the 1,000 freestyle. Berens, one of nine Texas men's swimmers honored on Senior Day, added a win in the 200 freestyle with 1:37.84. Cragin led a one-through-four Texas finish in the 100 backstroke, where he paced the Longhorns in 49.35.
UT notched a one-two finish in the 100 breaststroke, where Spann led the way in 55.60. Feigen led a one-two Texas showing in the 50 freestyle, where he finished in 20.01 and senior Dave Walters took second in 20.62. Sophomore Drew Livingston led a one-two-three UT finish in the one-meter diving event with 336.82 points, as he edged teammate Matt Cooper by less than one point.
Van Roekel, another decorated Texas senior, claimed the 100 freestyle in 45.56, and Walters placed second in 45.96. Sophomore Neil Caskey paced UT in the 200 backstroke with a winning time of 1:47.42, and freshman Austin Surhoff took second in 1:49.67. Spann went on to notch his second individual win of the day in the 200 breaststroke at 2:00.86. Wilcox scored his second win of the day in the 500 freestyle at 4:28.14.
Livingston scored his second win of the day in the three-meter diving event, where he led a one-two-three Texas finish with 421.12 points. Cooper placed second with 408.67 points. Fittingly, a Texas senior quartet finished off the meet with a win in the 400 freestyle relay, as Berens, Peter Jameson, Walters and Van Roekel finished in 3:00.26.
The Longhorns resume competition on Friday, Jan. 29 when they visit Arizona for a two-day meet alongside the Texas women.
