Women's Tennis advances three doubles pairs at ITA Texas Regional Championships

WACO, Texas -- Texas advanced three doubles pairs to the round of 16 Saturday on day two of the ITA Texas Regional Championships at the Baylor Tennis Center. Saturday's singles session was wiped out due to inclement weather in Waco.
Seniors Caroline Larsson and Maggie Mello started the day with an 8-4 win over Sam Houston State's Anrinetta Botha and Kayla Stevenson and finished it with an 8-5 win over UT-Arlington's Nikola Matovicova and Katarina Mlcochova. Larsson and Mello are set to take on Lamar's Mariaryeni Gutierrez and Kaltriana Harbuzi in Sunday's round of 16.
Senior Amanda Craddock and freshman Cierra Gaytan-Leach posted an 8-1 win over UT-Arlington's Giada Dortona and Daiana Neqreanu in the round of 32. They will take on Baylor's Sona Novakova and Nina Secerbegovic on Sunday. Junior Krista Damico and sophomore Aeriel Ellis went on to notch an 8-6 win over North Texas' Nadia Lee and Madura Ranganathan. Damico and Ellis will meet TCU's Maria Babanova and Idunn Hertzberg on Sunday.
Texas juniors Julia Wiegand and Maya Zein-El-Abdin posted an 8-6 win over Texas Tech's Lorena Aviles and Sandra Dynka in the round of 64 but were eliminated in the ensuing round.
