Durant leads USA Basketball to 70-68 win against Brazil in pool play at FIBA World Championship

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Former University of Texas player and current NBA All-Star Kevin Durant posted a team-high 27 points and 10 rebounds to lead Team USA (3-0) to a 70-68 win against Brazil on Monday in pool play action at the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Durant hit 9-of-18 field goals (4-of-6 threes) and 5-of-6 free throws while adding three steals in 39 minutes of action.
Through the first three contests, Durant leads the team in scoring (21.0 ppg) and ranks second in steals (eight) and tied for second in rebounding (7.3 rpg). He has converted 22-of-42 (.524) field goals, including 7-of-13 (.538) from three-point range, and 12-of-13 (.923) free throws in 27.7 minutes per game.
Team USA continues preliminary round Group B play on Wednesday, Sept. 1 against Iran. Tip is scheduled for 11 a.m. (Central), and the game will be televised live nationally on ESPN.
The winner of the 2010 FIBA World Championship earns an automatic qualifying berth to the 2012 London Olympics.
