Durant helps USA Basketball to 92-57 win against Tunisia in pool play at FIBA World Championship

ISTANBUL, Turkey -- Former University of Texas player and current NBA All-Star Kevin Durant posted 14 points and four rebounds to help Team USA (5-0) to a 92-57 win against Tunisia on Thursday in pool play action at the 2010 FIBA World Championship. Durant hit 5-of-9 field goals and 3-of-3 free throws while adding two assists and one blocked shot in just 18 minutes of action.
Through the first five contests, Durant leads the team in scoring (17.8 ppg), steals (10) and minutes played (24.2 mpg) and ranks second in rebounding (6.2 rpg) and third in assists (12). He has converted 32-of-58 (.552) field goals, including 9-of-18 (.500) from three-point range, and 16-of-17 (.941) free throws in the tournament.
Team USA, which had already clinched first place in Group B, now advances to face Angola, the fourth-place team from Group A, in the round of 16. The USA-Angola contest is scheduled for Monday, Sept. 6. Tip time is set for 10 a.m. Central, and the game will be televised live nationally by ESPN2.
The winner of the 2010 FIBA World Championship earns an automatic qualifying berth to the 2012 London Olympics.
