Longhorn Fans,
The past few days here in the Czech Republic have been quite eventful with my teammates. Yesterday, we started our day out with a short pool workout. Since we played three games in a row, Coach Brown wanted to loosen us up by doing some stretches and switching from the cool pool water to the hot tub. After about 30 minutes, we had free time until our pregame meal, and most of us caught up on our sleep.
During our pregame meal, we had some good risotto and pasta along with some sandwiches and fruit. Following the meal, we loaded the bus and headed two hours to Strakonice for our second game.
We won last night's game, but we had to fight through it with just eight available players. All of us saw quite a bit of playing time, and it was a good display of the 'Texas Tough' mentality and work ethic we have been instilling all summer.
Today we began the day with another pool workout, and following a quick breakfast, we boarded the bus again for Karlove Vary. We stopped first at Palermo Pizzeria and had a delicious pregame meal of salad, spaghetti, chicken and vegetables. The restaurant was very quaint, and it looked like it would be a place in a movie.
Between the meal and the game, we toured the Moser Glass Factory, which is a very famous in this part of the world. We saw glassblowers in action, and they were making beautiful vases and bowls and glasses. Coach G, Chelsea Bass and Ashley Gayle even attempted the glass blowing, and were semi-successful on their first attempts.
Tonight we played a very tough Karlove Vary team. They were the most athletic and physical team we've faced here, and it was a very tight game. Our fans were really into it and cheering us on throughout all four quarters. We are very fortunate to have so many family and friends over here to support us and join us on this journey.
Saturday's game in Vienna was cancelled by the opponent, so we finished the European tour 3-0. Now we're looking forward to a few days in Bratislava and Vienna before heading home to Austin on Monday.
Thanks for following along throughout our journey. We're all excited to opening the season on Nov. 11 at home for y'all and can't wait for everyone to see our Texas Tough team play together.
