- Series: Texas now leads the all-time series with Rice, 136-59. Texas has won 15 of the last 16 against Rice including a 7-0 mark during the Rick Barnes era. The Owls are Texas' third-most common opponent with 195 games between the schools.
- Barnes' 350th win at Texas: Rick Barnes won his 350th game as head coach at Texas. Barnes is the all-time winningest coach in Texas history with a 350-142 mark in his 15th season with the Longhorns.
- Season-low in points allowed: Texas held Rice to 41 points on 15-of-47 shooting from the field (.319). It is the lowest amount of points Texas has allowed this season. Texas leads the nation in FG percentage defense (.337) while holding opponents to 58.2 points per game.
- Rebounding margin: Texas out-rebounded Rice 46-23 for the second-highest rebound margin (+23) this season. The Longhorns also had a 16-2 (+14) advantage in offensive rebounds. It is the highest overall rebounding margin since out-rebounding Coppin State on Nov. 12 50-to-25 (+50).
- Texas at home: The Longhorns improve to 7-0 at home this season and 157-15 at home since the 2002-03 season (11 seasons).

- Starters: Javan Felix, Julien Lewis, Sheldon McClellan, Jonathan Holmes, and Cameron Ridley started on Saturday. It is the fifth consecutive time this starting lineup has been used (3-2). Felix and Holmes are the only Horns to start all 12 games this season.
- Sheldon McClellan reached double-figure points for the 15th consecutive game (14 points) on 4-of-10 shooting. It is the seventh game this season McClellan has had a team-high in points and second time leading the team in rebounds (9).
- Javan Felix finished with seven assists, his eighth game with seven or more assists this season. Felix entered the game as the Big 12 leader is assists (6.4 apg).
- Jaylen Bond played in his second game of the season after recovering from a left foot injury. Also played in five minutes against Chaminade (11/19). Bond finished with six rebounds and three points in 12 minutes played.
