Men’s Basketball announces 2026-27 schedule

This year’s slate includes 18 home games in Moody Center.
AUSTIN, Texas — The University of Texas Men's Basketball 2026-27 season schedule was released Monday and features 18 home games in the fifth season of Moody Center, including a marquee non-conference matchup against Memphis in addition to nine contests against Southeastern Conference opponents. The slate also features a neutral-site game against Baylor in San Antonio, a neutral-site matchup against Miami (Fla.) in Houston, two games in San Diego as part of the Rady Children's Invitational, and a road contest at Louisville as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge.
Tipoff times and the complete television schedule for the 2026-27 season will be announced when available. The SEC previously released its league schedule on Monday with the exception of eight mid-week game dates that will be announced later. Texas plays home conference games in Moody Center against the following opponents: Florida (Jan. 2), Auburn (Jan. 12 or 13), Oklahoma (Jan. 16), Arkansas (Jan. 23), Kentucky (Jan. 30), Alabama (Feb. 9 or 10), Texas A&M (Feb. 16 or 17), Tennessee (Feb. 27) and Missouri (March 2 or 3).
The Longhorns open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 2 with a home contest against Chicago State in Moody Center. Texas sports a 2-0 mark against the Cougars, including a 105-58 home victory in the most recent matchup during the 2024-25 season. Texas hosts Gardner-Webb on Thursday, Nov. 5. This will mark just the second meeting between the Longhorns and the Runnin' Bulldogs, as UT claimed a 95-63 home win over Gardner-Webb in the only previous matchup during the 2009-10 season. The Longhorns conclude their three-game season-opening homestand against Grambling State on Monday, Nov. 9. This will mark the first meeting in men's basketball between Texas and the Tigers.
The Longhorns face Baylor in the San Antonio Hoops Showdown at Frost Bank Center on Sunday, Nov. 15. Texas holds a 165-98 lead in the all-time series against the Bears, the most common opponent in UT program history. The neutral-site matchup will mark the first appearance by the Longhorns in San Antonio since the 2003 NCAA Tournament, when Texas earned wins over UConn in the Sweet 16 and Michigan State in the Elite Eight in games played at the Alamodome.
Texas hosts Southern Utah on Thursday, Nov. 19. This will mark just the second meeting between the Longhorns and the Thunderbirds, as UT claimed a 117-78 home victory over Southern Utah in the only previous matchup during the 1988-89 season. Texas plays a home game against Southern Indiana on Sunday, Nov. 22. This will mark the first meeting in men's basketball between the Longhorns and the Screaming Eagles.
Texas heads to San Diego on Nov. 26-27 (Thursday-Friday) for two contests in the Rady Children's Invitational at Jenny Craig Pavilion. The Longhorns will face Georgetown in the semifinals on Thursday, Nov. 26 (1:30 p.m. CT/FS1) before playing either Saint Mary's or UCLA in the championship game or third-place game on Friday, Nov. 27.
Texas stays on the road to face Louisville in the KFC Yum! Center on Tuesday, Dec. 1 as part of the SEC/ACC Challenge. This will mark the seventh meeting between the Longhorns and the Cardinals and first since the 2023-24 season, when Texas claimed an 81-80 victory in the semifinals of the Saatva Empire Classic in Madison Square Garden.
Texas hosts Jackson State on Tuesday, Dec. 8. This will mark the first meeting in men's basketball between the Longhorns and the Tigers.
The Longhorns play Miami (Fla.) in a neutral-site contest in Houston at the Toyota Center on Saturday, Dec. 12. This will mark the fifth all-time meeting between the two schools, and the series is currently tied at two wins apiece.
Texas concludes the non-conference portion of its schedule with three consecutive home games against Memphis (Wednesday, Dec. 16), Prairie View A&M (Monday, Dec. 21) and East Texas A&M (Tuesday, Dec. 29). The Texas-Memphis matchup is the first of a home-and-home series over the next two years that will see the Longhorns return the game at Memphis during the 2027-28 season. UT holds a 4-2 advantage in the all-time series against the Tigers. Texas sports a 2-0 mark against Prairie View A&M, including a 70-56 home victory in the most recent matchup during the 2019-20 season. This will mark just the second meeting between the Longhorns and East Texas A&M (formerly known as Texas A&M-Commerce until November 2024), as UT claimed a 97-72 home victory over the Lions in the only previous matchup during the 2022-23 season.
