SAN JOSE, Calif. - Texas-Ex Dimitar Kutrovsky (2007-10) made the most of his first career main draw appearance in an ATP World Tour event on Tuesday, as he posted a three-set victory over Dennis Lajola in the first round of the ATP's SAP Open.
Kutrovsky claimed a 6-7 (7), 6-3, 7-6 (3) win over Lajola to set up a second-round match on Wednesday against top-seeded Frenchman Gael Monfils, the world's 13th-ranked player. The native Bulgarian is ranked a career-best No. 438 in singles in the latest ATP World Tour rankings.

The winningest player in UT men's tennis history with 230 combined singles and doubles wins, Kutrovsky was a three-time I.T.A. singles All-American (2008-10) at Texas, where he also earned I.T.A. doubles All-America honors alongside Josh Zavala . The 2010 Big 12 Player of the Year played at the No. 1 singles slot for the Longhorns' squad that reached the NCAA title match in 2008.
