Durant leads Team USA to victory in Olympic opener

LONDON -- Former University of Texas standout Kevin Durant posted game highs of 22 points and nine rebounds to lead Team USA to a 98-71 victory against France in the opening game of the 2012 Olympics on Sunday afternoon. Durant converted 6-of-13 field goals, including 3-of-5 from three-point range, and 7-of-7 free throws while adding two assists, two blocked shots and two steals in 28 minutes of action.
The Americans return to the court against Tunisia at 4:15 p.m. Central on Tuesday, July 31 and then face Nigeria at 4:15 p.m. Central on Thursday, Aug. 2. Team USA meets Lithuania at 8:30 a.m. Central on Saturday, Aug. 4 before concluding preliminary round play against Argentina at 4:15 p.m. Central on Monday, Aug. 6.
The top four teams from each Olympic preliminary round group will advance to the Aug. 8 quarterfinals, with the winners playing in the semifinals on Aug. 10 and the medal games on Aug. 12.
