- Series: The Texas-WVU all-time series is now tied 2-2, including a 2-1 mark during the Rick Barnes era. All four meetings between the teams have been decided by four points or less for a combined margin of nine points.
- Starters: Javan Felix, Julien Lewis, Ioannis Papapetrou, Jonathan Holmes and Jaylen Bond started on Wednesday. It is the first time this starting lineup has been used and the first start of the season for Bond (sixth career). Felix and Holmes are the only Horns to start all 12 games this season.
- Overtime: Texas falls to 16-20 in overtime games in the Big 12 Conference after opening league play with two consecutive overtime periods (at Baylor on 1/5/13). It marks the first time Texas played consecutive overtime games in Big 12 play. UT is 0-3 in overtime games this season and 41-48 all-time. It is the first consecutive overtime games for UT since Jan. 15, 1997 at Texas A&M (W, 86-76) and Jan. 19, 1997 against No. 10 Louisville (L, 78-85).
- FG% defense: Texas held WVU to 30.6 percent shooting from the field, including a 3-for-20 mark from 3-point range. It is the lowest FG percentage from a UT conference opponent since No. 16/16 Texas A&M shot 30.9 percent from the field on Jan. 31, 2011. Texas entered the game leading the NCAA in FG percentage defense (.336) and 3-point FG percentage (.298).
- KD V shoes: The Longhorns unveiled the new KD V Texas Edition. Kevin Durant's most-recent shoe, made by Nike, was released in December. Wearing them on Wednesday were Cameron Ridley, Prince Ibeh, Jonathan Holmes, and Sheldon McClellan. Durant was the consensus National Player of the Year for the Longhorns in 2006-07.
- Jonathan Holmes hit a 3-pointer with three seconds remaining to tie the game at 50 and send it into overtime. It was Holmes' second 3-pointer of the game - tying a career high. Holmes led the team in scoring for the first time in his career with 12 points on 5-of-8 shooting while adding nine rebounds. Reached double figures in scoring for the fifth time this year and 14th time in his career (49 games).
- Javan Felix reached double-figure points for the sixth time this season (11 points) on 5-of-11 shooting in 42 minutes played. It is Felix's 11th game with 35 or more minutes out of 15 games in his career.
- Prince Ibeh set a career high in points (seven) for the second consecutive game after scoring six points at Baylor (1/5/13). Ibeh added six rebounds in 15 minutes played on Wednesday.
