AMES, Iowa (AP) - Jonathan Holmes and Julien Lewis each had 15 points, but Texas lost to Iowa State, 82-62, on Saturday in the Cyclones' Big 12 home opener.
Texas (8-8, 0-3) cut Iowa State's halftime lead to seven with seven minutes remaining in the second half before the Cyclones went on a 17-4 run to defeat Texas for just the second time in 11 tries. Iowa State (11-4, 1-1) made 11 3-point field goals and was led by a season-high 18 points from Georges Niang.
Freshman point guard Javan Felix did not turn the ball over the first time of the season and finished with four assists. Ioannis Papapetrou was the third Longhorn to score in double figures with 13 points.
The Longhorns host Kansas next Saturday, Jan 19, in Austin (CBS).
