SKILLMAN, N.J. - The University Texas men's tennis team is ranked 23rd in the first Campbell's/Intercollegiate Tennis Association Division I Rankings of 2013. The Longhorns also feature three ranked singles players and three ranked doubles teams in the first ITA poll since Sept. 7, 2012.
It is the 111th consecutive week UT has been ranked in the top-30, dating back to the 2006 preseason poll. Last season Texas began the season ranked No. 19 and peaked at No. 8 in the poll on Feb. 23.
Texas will face 16 teams in dual matches this season that are ranked in the top-55, including nine teams ranked in the top-25 and five in the top-10.
Sophomore Soren Hess-Olesen checks in as UT's highest ranked singles player (No. 31), followed by No. 43 Daniel Whitehead and No. 98 Nick Naumann.
After finishing in the quarterfinal round of the doubles draw at the USTA/ITA National Indoor Championships in November, Chris Camillone and David Holiner begin the new year ranked 13th. Sudanwa Sitaram and Daniel Whitehead are ranked No. 40 and Alex Hilliard and Andrew Korinek are ranked No. 41.
Texas begins its 2013 spring schedule at the Key Biscayne Invitational (Fla.) from Jan. 6-8.
