Men's Track and Field announce additions to 2013-14 recruiting class

The sixth-ranked Men's Track and Field team added to its 2013-14 recruiting class with the announcement of seven signees.
Spencer Dunkerley-Offor (hurdles), Senoj-Jay Givans (sprints), Nikolai Horbovetz (distance), Craig Irvin (distance), Spencer McCloud (high jump), Parks McNeil (pole vault) and Robert Uhr (distance) will compete for the Longhorns beginning in the fall after recently signing National Letters of Intent.
This group will join Carlton Anumnu (sprints), Charles Anumnu (sprints), Easy Anyama (sprints), Logan Brittain (high jump) and Wolf Mahler (multi-events) who signed earlier in the spring.
"We're really excited to add each of these young men to our program," head coach Bubba Thornton said of the recent signees. "They really complement the group we already signed. All of them will compete at a high level for us."

Recent signees:
Spencer Dunkerley-Offor (Austin, Texas / St. Stephen's Episcopal) - hurdles
- Won the Division I 110-meter hurdles (personal-best 14.05) at the 2013 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays. Also eighth in the triple jump with a career-best leap of 45-2.50 (13.77m).
- Two time All-Southwest Preparatory Conference choice in track and field, a league consisting of private schools from Texas and Oklahoma
- 2012 conference champion in the 110mh (14.11) and 300mh (personal-best 40.17). Also ran the opening leg of the first place 4x100m relay (43.98) and third leg of the third place 4x400m relay (3:28.79) at the league meet. Finished third in the triple jump and fifth in the long jump.
- Personal bests include 22.24 in the 200m (2013 Duo Meet) and 22-1 in the long jump (2013 Duo Meet).
- Also recruited to play Division I volleyball
Senoj-Jay Givans, (St. Elizabeth, Jamaica / Munro College) - sprints
- Helped the Jamaican team finish second in the 4x100-meter relay at the 2012 World Junior Championships. Ran the third leg of the unit which posted the third-fastest time (39.19) in the prelims.
- Clocked a personal-best 10.45 to finish second in the 100 meters at the 2013 Inter-Secondary School (ISSA) Boys and Girls Championship. Also had a fourth-place showing in the 200m with a career-best 21.03.
- Finished fifth in the 100m (10.71) at the 2012 ISSA Boys and Girls Championship
- Claimed fourth in the 100m (10.45w) in the 2012 JAAA National Junior Championship
- Posted a time of 10.71 at the 2012 Central America and Caribbean Games
Nikolai Horbovetz (Plano, Texas / Plano East High School) - distance
- 2012 second team 5A All-State selection in cross country
- Finished ninth (15:30.26) at the 2012 state cross country meet. Second (15:07.70) in the 5A Region II meet.
- Finished third in the 3,200 meters (9:17.40) at the 2012 Texas Relays and eighth (9:22.19) in 2013.
- Fifth in the 1600m (4:29.62) at the 2012 District 8-5A finals
- Member of the second place 4x800m relay at the 2012 Northwest Texan Relays
- Member of the second place 4x1600m relay at the 2012 McKinney Boyd Invitational, 10:31.00
- Member of the third place 4x100m relay at the 2012 48th Annual Jesuit
Craig Irvin (The Woodlands, Texas / The Woodlands High School) - distance
- Finished third (4:20.94) in the 1,600 meters and second (9:29.38) in the 3,200 at the 2013 District 14-5A meet
- His time of the 3:58.87 in the 1,500m at the 2013 Rice Victor Lopez Classic ranks No. 2 in the state and 15th nationally, according to Dye Stat
- Finished seventh (15:21.80) in the 2012 Region II-5A cross country meet. Helped his team finish second at the state meet.
- Second in the 1,600m (4:17.56) and fourth in the 3,200m (9:37.03) at the 2012 District 14-5A meet. Sixth in the 1,600 at the Region II-5A meet.
Spencer McCloud (Argyle, Texas / Argyle High School) - high jump
- Had a personal-best leap of 6-10 at the 2013 Bubba Joiner Invitational. Finished sixth (6-5) at the 2013 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays.
- 2012 Texas 3A high jump champion with a clearance of 6-8. Also captured the 2012 Region II-3A title with a jump of 6-7
- Runner-up at the 2011 3A state meet with a clearance of 6-4. Also second (6-4) at the 2011 Region II-3A meet.
- Finished 11th (6-4 3/4) at the 2012 Texas Relays.
Parks McNeil (Kerrville, Texas / Kerrville Tiny High School) - pole vault
- Posted a personal-best clearance of the 16-1 to finish third at the 2012 Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays
- Two time District 4A-28 pole vault champion. Cleared 15-0 in 2012 and 13-0 in 2011.
- Third in the pole vault at the 2012 Region IV-4A finals with a clearance of 14-0. Second at the regional qualifier meet with a vault of 14-6.
- Fifth in the pole vault at the 2011 Region IV-4A finals with a clearance of 13-6. Fourth at the 2011 Marble Falls Regional qualifier with a vault of 14-0.
- Had a season-best mark of 14-6 to finish second at the 2011 Marble Falls Rotary Relays meet.
Robert Uhr (Lockhart, Texas / Lockhart High School) - distance
- 2012 first team 4A All-State selection in cross country
- Finished second (15:44.67) at the 2012 state cross country meet. Won the 4A Region IV title in a time of 15:49.60
- 2012 first team 4A All-State selection in track and field
- Runner-up in the 800 meters at the 2012 4A state meet with a personal-best time of 1:54.10. Captured the 2012 Region II-4A crown by clocking a time of 1:54.96.
- Won all four 800m races during 2012, including the Canyon Cougar Relays and Bear Relays.
- Had a personal-best time of 4:23.85 in the 1,600 meters at the 2012 Bear Relays.
- Finished second in the 3,200m at the 2013 Lockhart meet by clocking a personal-best 9:41.96.

Carlton Anumnu (Stafford, Texas/Stafford High School) - sprints
- Member of both the 4x100 (41.34) and 4x200-meter relay (86.42) units that captured the 2012 3A state championship. Ran the opening leg on the 4x100 and third leg on the 4x200. The 4x200 title was the school's first since 1991 and helped the team finish second overall.
- Finished second in the 100 meters (personal-best 10.75) at the 2012 state championship. Also second in the Region III-3A 100m with a time of 10.77.
- 2012 Greater Houston Boys Track and Field Athlete of the Year
- Member of both the 4x100 (43.28) and 4x200m relay (89.87) units that claimed fourth at the 2011 Region III-3A championship meet.
Charles Anumnu (Stafford, Texas/Stafford High School) - sprints
- Member of both the 4x100 (41.34) and 4x200-meter relay (86.42) units that captured the 2012 3A state championship. Ran the final leg on both relays. The 4x200 title was the school's first since 1991 and helped the team finish second overall.
- Finished third in the 200 meters (21.59) at the 2012 state championship. Also second in the Region III-3A 200m with a personal-best time of 21.54.
- Member of the 2012 All-Greater Houston Track and Field Team
- Member of both the 4x100 (43.28) and 4x200m relay (89.87) units that claimed fourth at the 2011 Region III-3A championship meet.
Easy Anyama (Stafford, Texas/Stafford High School) - sprints/hurdles
- Member of both the 4x100 (41.34) and 4x200-meter relay (86.42) units that captured the 2012 3A state championship. Ran the second leg on both relays. The 4x200 title was the school's first since 1991 and helped the team finish second overall.
- Finished fourth in the 110-meter hurdles (14.62) at the 2012 state championship. Placed second in the 110mh (14.49) at 2012 Texas Relays. Personal-best time of 14.34 in the 60mh at the 2012 CFBISD Relays.
- Member of the 2012 All-Greater Houston Track and Field Team
- All-District 24-3A choice as a defensive back in 2011-12. First team all-district as a wide receiver as a junior.
Logan Brittain (Amarillo, Texas/Canyon Randall High School) - jumps
- Two-time state champion in high jump
- Won the 2012 4A state high jump title with a clearance of 6-10. Matched his personal best of 7-0 twice as a senior. Posted that mark in winning the Region I-4A title, as well as the Amarillo Relays Meet of Champions.
- Claimed fourth in the long jump (22-2) at the 2012 state regional. Had a personal-best of 22-8 1/4 at the 2012 Russell Graham Memorial Regional Qualifier.
- Won the 2011 state high jump crown with a clearance of 6-11 3/4. Captured the regional title by matching his personal-best 7-0. Also hit 7-0 at the 2011 Russell Graham Memorial Regional Qualifier.
- Finished third at the 2012 Texas Relays with mark of 6-9 3/4
- Finished fourth in the high jump at the 2010 state meet with a clearance of 6-6.
Wolf Mahler (Temple, Texas/Belton High School) - multi-events
- No. 1 ranked U.S. high school decathlete in 2012 by Track and Field News
- 2012 AAU All-American
- 2012 AAU Junior Olympic Champion in the decathlon with a personal-best 7,274 points, which was 1,099 ahead of the silver medalist. Won five of the 10 events.
- 2011 USATF Junior Olympic Decathlon National Champion with 6,930 points

- 2009 AAU Intermediate Decathlon Champion with 7,274 points
