AUSTIN, Texas – TicketCity announced freshman pole vaulter Calie Spencer as the inaugural winner of the TicketCity Annual Scholarship Program on Friday. Spencer was named the winner of the organization's essay contest to earn a $2,500 scholarship.
The scholarship program was created by TicketCity this year to support the students that give college athletics the tradition, energy and excitement that make it an enjoyable experience for fans. The program is open to all college students who participate in its essay contest.
Students are asked to write a 500-800 word essay on one of three questions that help shine light on how attending college sporting events has impacted their life and contributed to their college experience. Spencer's essay "The Love of My Life" was chosen as the winning entry by a panel of sports fans at TicketCity.
