Soccer signs seven to National Letters of Intent

Texas staff inks Barron, Brook, Flores, Geiger, Murphy, Orrick and Zulkowski for 2014 season.
AUSTIN, Texas — Seven high school and club standouts have signed National Letters of Intent to join The University of Texas Soccer program, head coach Angela Kelly announced Wednesday. Jalynn Barron (Plano, Texas), Olivia Brook (Houston, Texas), Mikayla Flores (La Verne, Calif.), Erin Geiger (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Morgan Murphy (Plano, Texas), Chelbi Orrick (Houston, Texas) and Quinn Zulkowski (Austin, Texas) will join the Longhorns for the 2014 season.
"2014 Texas Soccer welcomes a group of young ladies that are incredibly invested, talented and versatile," Kelly said. "The key word is versatility, which will bring us competition and depth in areas all over the field. Each young lady will be expected to contribute and put their stamp on this program. We would like to officially welcome all of them to our LONGHORN Soccer Family."
Jalynn Barron, Defender/Midfielder, Plano, Texas (Plano West HS)
Three-year starter for head coach Carley Phillips (Allie Rogosheske will coach the team in 2014) … will serve as team captain in her upcoming senior season … high school teammate of fellow signee Morgan Murphy … high school team won the Texas Class 5A state championship in her sophomore (2012) and junior (2013) years … finished the 2012 season as the No. 1 ranked team in the nation by ESPN … Plano West posted a 28-0-2 mark in her junior season … team enters the 2014 season with an unbeaten streak of 38 matches … First-Team District 10-5A selection as a junior … Second-Team District 10-5A choice as a sophomore … earned District 10-5A honorable mention accolades as a freshman … plays club soccer for the Dallas Texans and coach Sean Bubb … club teammate of fellow signee Morgan Murphy … also played for Sting 96 Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) as a sophomore which finished as the National Runner-up … five-year member of the Sting 97 and Sting 97 ECNL club teams.
Olivia Brook, Forward, Houston, Texas (Memorial HS)
Three-year starter for head coach Lindley Amarantos … totaled 41 career goals and 22 career assists in her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons … served as team captain during her junior season and will serve again in that role in her upcoming senior year … First-Team District 19-5A selection as a junior while leading the team in scoring and assists … Second-Team District 19-5A choice in her sophomore year, when she was the top point scorer in the district … earned District 19-5A honorable mention accolades as a freshman … plays club soccer for the Texas Rush Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) and coach Stuart Fitzsimmons … also a nine-year member of the Houston Express Soccer Club under coach Mark Gibbs … has posted 84 career goals and 49 career assists in her last three years of club soccer entering this spring … led her club team in goals and assists in each of the last three seasons … Houston Express finished as the USYSA 2012 National finalist and claimed the 2010 and 2012 Texas State Cup championships … involved with the Olympic Development Program (ODP) as a regional camp selection in her junior year … also lettered in high school in track and field, where she focused on sprints, long jump, triple jump and high jump … District 19-5A champion in the long jump as a junior … runner-up at the Area meet in both the triple jump and long jump in her junior year … three-time Academic All-District 19-5A selection.
Mikayla Flores, Forward, La Verne, Calif. (Bonita HS)
Three-year letterwinner for head coach Lynsee Bock … served as team captain in her sophomore and junior season … First-Team all-league selection as a freshman and sophomore … First-Team CIF Freshman and First-Team CIF Sophomore picks … played club soccer for Legends FC under coaches Rick Young and Josh Hodge … active in the Olympic Development Program (ODP) with multiple selections to the ODP Region IV Pool … her Legends FC G96 squad claimed the 2012 Girls Under-15 U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship … started playing soccer when she was four years old.
Erin Geiger, Midfielder, Colorado Springs, Colo. (St. Mary's HS)
Two-year starter for head coach Gregg Braha … senior class president … started as a freshman at Cheyenne Mountain HS for head coach Scott Johnson … ranked second on the team in scoring and earned the "Outstanding Attacker" award … team won the Colorado Springs Metro League title and advanced to the 4A state quarterfinals as a freshman … transferred to St. Mary's following her freshman year … played club soccer for Pride SC since she was seven … member of Predators 96 from U11-U18, coached by Sian Hudson and Jay Rayner … four-time team captain of Predators 96 … four-time Colorado state champion (U13, U14, U16 and U17) and two-time State Cup Championship MVP (U13 and U16) … member of the CO 95 Olympic Development Program (ODP) team from 2008-12 … currently plays for the Colorado Rush U18 ECNL team.
Morgan Murphy, Midfielder, Plano, Texas (Plano West HS)

Chelbi Orrick, Midfielder, Houston, Texas (Cypress Christian School)
Three-year starter for head coach Lisa McCorkle … team captain in her freshman, sophomore and junior seasons and will serve again in that role in her upcoming senior year … three-time First-Team TAPPS all-state pick (as a freshman, sophomore and junior) … three-time team MVP … high school team reached the TAPPS state semifinals in her freshman and junior years … has played club soccer for the Albion Hurricanes 96 Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) for nine seasons … club team won the Texas state championship in 2012 and advanced to the ECNL regionals in 2013 … earned the Bronze medal for Presidential service hours earlier in her senior season.
Quinn Zulkowski, Midfielder, Austin, Texas (Vandegrift HS)
Enrolled at The University of Texas at the beginning of the 2014 spring semester … three-year letterwinner at Vandegrift for head coach Jenifer Hardy … high school team won the District 51-4A championship in her sophomore season (2012) and a Sectional championship in her junior year (2013) … three-time First-Team District 51-4A pick … District 51-4A Co-Midfielder of the Year as a junior by the Austin American-Statesman … played eight years of club soccer with Lonestars 96 Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) for coach Don Cameron … club team won the ECNL National Championship in 2011 and earned five straight STYSA National Cup state championships (2007-11) along with a USYS Region III runner-up and semifinal appearance … two-time member of the Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region III South Texas team … three-time Academic All-District 51-4A selection.
