Rowing preview: Fighting Nutria & Michigan (scrimmage)

Longhorns rowers open 2014 season this weekend on Austin’s Lady Bird Lake.
WHAT: Texas opens 2014 with the annual Fighting Nutria, an eight-kilometer intrasquad time trial. The race spans from the western-most dam of Austin's Lady Bird Lake to the lake's eastern most dam to test the rowers' physical and mental endurance accumulated during winter training.
The Longhorns also will take part in an informal scrimmage against Michigan.
WHEN
Fighting Nutria – Saturday, Feb. 8 – 8 a.m. CT
Michigan – Sunday, Feb. 9 – 9 a.m. CT
LAST TIME OUT: Texas posted 10 top-10 finishes last fall at the Head of the Hooch (Nov. 2-3, 2013) in Chattanooga, Tenn.
