2014 Texas Comin' on Strong Tour presented by DISH slated for 12 stops in Texas

AUSTIN, Texas -- The 2014 Texas Comin' on Strong Tour presented by DISH kicks off Saturday, April 19, at Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium in Austin at the annual Orange-White Scrimmage, airing exclusively on Longhorn Network and AM-1300 the Zone. The tour serves as an introduction to the next chapter of Texas Football and features head coach Charlie Strong and his staff meeting with UT fans across the great state of Texas.
DISH's sponsorship of the 2014 Comin' on Strong Tour represents its new association with Longhorn Network, the ESPN-owned, 24-hour HD network dedicated to The University of Texas. DISH joins the growing list of providers to partner with Longhorn Network and is expected to launch LHN nationwide this summer.
The celebration begins on April 19 at 11 a.m. when gates open for the fan fest. Free and open to the public, the fan fest highlights Texas traditions with appearances by and photo opportunities with Bevo, Smokey the Cannon, Texas Cheer and Pom, Hook 'Em, and more. Longhorn Network will give fans a unique opportunity to take photographs while they sit behind the desk on the Texas GameDay set, used by LHN personalities before and after every Texas Football home game. Snap a photo alongside the 2014 Comin' on Strong Tour bus, attend the scrimmage, and hear Coach Strong give a special address to fans in attendance.
The Orange-White Scrimmage kicks off at 1 p.m. Get your first glimpse of the team before the fall season begins vs. North Texas on Saturday, Aug. 30. Seating is first-come, first-served, so fans are encouraged to arrive early to get the best possible seats. Enter through Gates 1, 7, 8, 14, 16, 25, 27 and 32.
The tour, featuring the official 2014 Comin' On Strong tour bus, makes its first of 12 stops the Monday following the scrimmage and travels throughout the state over the next month.
Every tour stop is an opportunity for Longhorn fans to gather and meet Coach Strong, who is a featured speaker in each city. In addition to Coach Strong, special guests at various stops include UT President Bill Powers, Men's Athletics Director Steve Patterson, Women's Athletics Director Chris Plonsky, former letterwinners and special alumni.
Tickets for each tour stop are $15 for adults and $8 for youth and include entrance to the event, food, giveaways and a tour T-shirt. Tickets may be purchased beginning Friday, March 21 at 9 a.m. Central on TexasSports.com. All tickets are based on availability. Additional tickets may be released at a later date.
