Rowing Preview: Conference USA Championship

WHAT: Texas competes in its second conference championship regatta of the month when it takes part in the Conference USA Championship. The C-USA champion will earn an automatic berth to compete at the NCAA Championship set for May 30-June 1 in Indianapolis.

The Conference USA Championship features all five Big 12 rowing schools – Texas, Kansas, Kansas State, Oklahoma and West Virginia – plus Alabama, Old Dominion, Sacramento State, San Diego State, Tennessee and Tulsa.

SCORING FORMAT
The 11 teams will score points based on their finishes in three races: varsity 8+, second varsity 8+ and varsity 4+. The complete scoring breakdown is available here.

C-USA CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY: Texas won the varsity 8+ and novice 8+ grand finals at the 2013 Conference USA Championship, where the Longhorns placed third in the final team standings.

Texas won the 2011 Conference USA Championship and placed second at the 2012 event. UT took third place at the inaugural Conference USA Championship in 2010. All four previous Conference USA Championship regattas were held at the site of this weekend's regatta, Melton Hill Lake.
