Campus landmark will be lit in burnt orange to recognize the women's track and field victory at the 2014 Big 12 Outdoor meet
The UT Tower will be bathed in burnt orange lighting Tuesday evening in recognition of the women's track and field team's victory at the 2014 Big 12 Outdoor Championships over the weekend.
The Longhorn women claimed their eighth Big 12 outdoor title by totaling 149 points during the three-day meet (May 16-18) in Lubbock, Texas. Baylor was second with 113.50.
Per UT tradition, the Tower is illuminated in burnt orange from top-to-bottom when an athletics team wins a conference championship.
It marked the 19th outdoor league title in the history of Texas women's track and field (11 in the Southwest Conference).
The Longhorns claimed a meet-best eight individual titles, led by a pair from sophomore Mokolake Akinosun (100 and 200 meters).
