The senior defender discusses a big weekend for Texas sports in this week's blog entry
Let me all say what you're thinking: Alexa Adams is a stud. She scored four goals this weekend! FOUR. And she made SportsCenter's "Top 10 Plays" on Friday evening! She's awesome, y'all! (WATCH ALEXA AT NO. 8 ON ESPN SPORTSCENTER'S "TOP 10 PLAYS" HERE: LINK)
It all started Friday at our "Kick for a Cure" pink out game versus Iowa State. We beat the Cyclones, 2-1, to secure our first of two wins during the weekend. After the game, we celebrated with brownies and rice krispie treats that my mom made for the team! All smiles all around. I love it when we win.
On Saturday morning, we had a quick recovery practice before settling in to watch the Longhorn football team beat the Sooners in the Red River Showdown! What an awesome game, and thank goodness we came out on top, 24-17. WOOHOO!
Then fast forward to Sunday afternoon at four o'clock when we played TCU. It was hot, hot, hot, but we secured a big 3-0 shutout win over the Horned Frogs and rushed inside to get into the air conditioning. It was a fantastic weekend! Securing two wins and six points always makes for a happy coaching staff and team!
Next up we head to Lubbock to play Texas Tech this upcoming Friday. Until then…Hook'Em!
