Longhorns finish the weekend at 4-0 after posting two wins each on Friday and Saturday.
AUSTIN, Texas – Nine-time national champion Texas followed up a pair of wins over Florida and Indiana from Friday with two more on Saturday, as the Longhorns wrapped up a busy weekend of swimming and diving at UT's Lee and Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center.
The three teams dueled in a 50-meter, long-course pool on Friday and returned to the traditional 25-yard, short-course format on Saturday. Texas defeated Indiana by a 141-115 margin and dealt Florida a 155-105 defeat. Indiana defeated Florida by a 142-120 count in the remaining contest.
Freshman Joanna Evans followed up a strong long-course meet with a meet-opening win in Saturday's short-course session. Evans claimed the 1,000 freestyle in 9 minutes, 55.24 seconds. Fresh off of a pair of wins in Friday's meet, All-America junior Madisyn Cox won the 200 freestyle handily in 1:47.93. Freshman Brooke Hansen added a third-place mark of 1:49.41.

POST-MEET COMMENTS
Texas head coach Carol Capitani
On winning the first couple of meets: It feels really good. It shows us where we are. It was a little bit strange the first day out on the long course. That usually only happens during an Olympic year, and I feel that we raced pretty well last night. There were good surprises there at the end, and we know some places where we can get better. They followed up today and they felt a little bit hammered this morning. With the length of both meets being three and a half hours, that's a little unusual as well. I like starting off this way. It makes them tougher, makes them do the little things right. We do have to make some progress, but I do like where we are.
On improvements for the next meet: I think the meet gives you an opportunity to see where we are weak and where we need to improve upon, and whether it's the little things, starts, turns, strokes, race strategy…and where we need to be tougher.
On the freshman class performance: It's been really fun (to see them progress). It has brought a lot of new blood and new energy here. We still have a lot of learning. We lost some key players in our seniors and I feel like they have eased the pain of that. We don't feel the absence as much. We still feel it because leadership is a different thing. I am happy with how they stood up, and I am happy with how they got out of their comfort zone, and most of them did. Most of them surprised themselves at how good they were right now.
On the strongest area of the team through the two meets: I think their focus over the length of the meet and how they stayed together. I think with some of them their third and fourth events were as good as their first events, and that's really telling of strength and being in really good shape.
Junior Madisyn Cox
On her overall feelings of the meet: I feel good. Seeing this team as a whole, I really think we are going in a great direction. A lot of freshmen stepped up, and that was great to see because you never know with it being their first collegiate meet. It's so inspiring to see that, and I'm really excited for the direction.
On her favorite moment from today: Olivia Anderson, our breaststroke freshman, touched out an Indiana girl (at the finish) who touched her out yesterday. She took that fire from getting touched out yesterday and went back today and got her.
On the improvements the team needs to make: For me personally, it was my turns. That was one thing. For the team, it took us a little bit this morning to get back up and going. We had a really great second half of the meet, but I feel like the first half of the meet could have been a lot stronger. So we need to focus on bringing our all throughout the meet.
