The Big 12 Conference recognizes junior swimmer Clark Smith and senior diver Cory Bowersox after the duo helped the Horns to victories over Florida and Indiana.
IRVING, Texas – The Big 12 Conference announced Wednesday the selection of Texas junior swimmer Clark Smith as its Men's Swimmer of the Week and senior diver Cory Bowersox as the league's Men's Diver of the Week. Smith picks up his first such selection while Bowersox earns his third.
Smith (Denver, Colorado) showed off his range in the Longhorns' wins last weekend over Florida and Indiana. He won the 400m freestyle (3:55.11) and the 800m freestyle (8:13.16) handily in the Longhorns' long-course wins over Florida and Indiana.
The 2015 NCAA champion in the 500-yard freestyle cruised to victory in that event during Saturday's short-course meet and took the win in 4:21.95, the nation's top time of the season.
Bowersox and teammate Sean O'Brien kept Texas in the win column in both springboard events contested last Friday against Florida and Indiana. Bowersox edged Indiana's Joshua Arndt and won the three-meter event after taking second behind O'Brien on one-meter.
