Sixteen Longhorns earn First Team All-America

USTFCCCA honors top athletes
AUSTIN, Texas – Following this weekend's NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships in Arkansas, the USTFCCCA announced its 2015 indoor All-America teams on Monday. The Texas Longhorns came away with 16 first team honorees and another four on the second team.
The men and women each had eight first team honorees for finishing in the top eight in their respective events and scoring points for the Longhorns at the championship meet.
Zack Bilderback and Senoj-Jay Givans each received two first team certificates for their performances in an individual event and for representing half the 4x400 meter relay team that finished third and broke the school record. Chris Irvin and Byron Robinson join them on the first team for their 4x400 efforts. Their time of 3:06.56 broke the previous record set back in 1987.
The women saw Courtney Okolo and Ashley Spencer each earn two first team recognitions as well. Okolo won the 400 meters with a time of 51.12 seconds with Spencer finishing third. They also ran on the 4x400 meter relay that won the title along with Morolake Akinosun and Kendall Baisden with a time of 3:28.48. That time ranks fifth in collegiate history.
Sandie Raines finished eighth in the 5,000 meters to receive her first team All-America certificate. Morgan Snow took third in the 60 meter hurdles to also be named to the first team. She tied a personal best 8.07 seconds in the final.
Ryan Crouser finished second in the men's shot put to receive first team honors, and Wolf Mahler was named to the first team for the first time in his career for his sixth-place finish in the heptathlon.
Akinosun also earned two second team certificates for her efforts in the 60 meters and 200 meters. Baisden received second team honors for the 400 meters.
Craig Lutz was named to the second team for finishing in 11th in the men's 5,000.
The Big 12 was the No. 2 conference at the championship meet in terms of first team All-America performances for the men. The Big 12 men tallied 33 first team honorees for the men and Texas ranked No. 4 with its eight.
Texas finished in sixth place on both the men's and women's sides at the championship meet. The men scored 25 points while the women tallied 33.
