Taylor qualifies for Pan American Games

Texas-Ex Maren Taylor takes second in synchronized three-meter diving, earns Pan Ams berth.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Texas-Ex Maren Taylor placed second alongside former Iowa diver Deidre Freeman in the women's three-meter synchronized diving finals and earned a trip to the Pan American Games Sunday at the USA Diving Synchronized National Championships.
Taylor and Freeman totaled 597.60 points and notched a meet-best 72.00 points on their fifth dive, a back two-and-a-half somersault in the pike position. Taylor also competed alongside Texas senior Emma Ivory-Ganja in the same competition and placed third with Ivory-Ganja with 587.40 points.
Taylor and Freeman will compete in the 2015 Pan American Games set for July 10-26 in Toronto, Ontario. UT junior Meghan Houston competed with North Carolina diver Michole Timm in the three-meter synchro final and took seventh overall with 532.50 points.
UT sophomore Mark Anderson qualified third with for the synchro platform finals but scratched from the competition due to an injury to his synchro partner.
