Texas Athletics ‘Zero Waste Weekend’ success
04.16.2015 | Baseball, Texas Athletics, Softball, Bleed Orange. Live Green.
During the Texas vs. OU baseball and softball games, Texas fans helped divert waste from landfill.
During last weekend's Texas vs. Oklahoma baseball and softball series, Texas Athletics hosted 'Zero Waste Weekend,' and thanks to fan participation, we were officially waste free.
In order to achieve "zero waste" at least 90 percent of landfill waste needed to be diverted to recycling or composting. Red & Charline McCombs Field diverted 96.8 percent of its waste and UFCU Disch-Falk Field diverted 90.5 percent during the three-game series.
We appreciate your support composting and recycling at our facilities.
Additional thanks goes to Texas Wranglers, University Leadership Network, Texas Lassos, Excelerate Texas, TIP Scholars and Dr. Matt Bower's Sports Management class for their volunteer work to support this initiative, and to BASF for sponsoring the Zero Waste Weekend initiative for Texas Softball at Red and Charline McCombs Field.
We look forward to seeing you back at Red & Charline McCombs Field this weekend, as softball hosts Iowa State in a three-game series. Texas Baseball is back at UFCU Disch-Falk Field on Tuesday, April 21 to host Texas State.
