Smart announces Men's Basketball coaching and support staff hires

Cason, Horn, Morrell, Roose, Lucas and Kuiper join Shaka Smart’s staff in Austin.
AUSTIN, Texas — University of Texas Head Men's Basketball Coach Shaka Smart announced the hiring of six members of his coaching and support staff Thursday afternoon. All six individuals begin their appointments immediately.
David Cason (pronunciation: KAY-sahn), Darrin Horn and Mike Morrell (pronunciation: more-ELLE) were announced as the three assistant coaches. Daniel Roose has been named Strength and Conditioning Coach for Men's Basketball, and Jai Lucas has been tabbed Men's Basketball Director of Operations. In addition, Denny Kuiper (pronounced: KYE-per) has been named Special Assistant to the Head Men's Basketball Coach.
Cason, Morrell and Roose each served on Smart's staff at Virginia Commonwealth University last season. Links to individual hiring announcements for all six staffers are found below.
